Venous lake? Laser can help, no surgery needed.

A venous lake is a small, soft, dark blue or purple bump, most often on the lip, ear or face. It’s harmless, but many people feel self-conscious about it, especially when it’s on the lip and noticeable every time they look in the mirror.

This lovely patient came to us with a venous lake she’d been wanting gone for a while. She’d assumed surgery was her only option, and with it the risk of a scar. Instead, we treated it with Nd:YAG laser over two short sessions, and she’s delighted with the result.

HALO® Laser

HALO is one of my favourite laser treatments for improving overall skin quality.

I particularly like it for patients who are bothered by sun damage, pigmentation, fine lines, enlarged pores, acne scarring or uneven skin texture.

HALO is a hybrid fractional laser, which means it uses two different laser wavelengths during the same treatment. This allows us to work at different depths in the skin and tailor the treatment depending on what we are trying to improve.

One of the things I like about HALO is that it also stimulates collagen, so the results aren’t just about what you see immediately after treatment. The skin continues to improve over the following weeks and months.

For some patients, I combine HALO with BBL® HERO™, particularly where there is quite a bit of sun damage, pigmentation or redness.

There is downtime with HALO. You can expect some redness and swelling initially, followed by a bronzed, slightly rough feeling to the skin for a few days. I always go through this properly at consultation so you know exactly what to expect.

Every treatment is tailored to the individual, as not everyone needs the same settings or the same treatment plan.
