Build, Protect, Strengthen Your Bones for Life
Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones become weaker and more fragile, increasing the risk of fractures. It is often called a “silent” disease because there are typically no symptoms until a bone breaks.
• Age, family history and previous fractures are important risk factors.
• Falling oestrogen levels around menopause can contribute to bone loss.
• Smoking and heavy alcohol consumption can increase the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.
• Calcium helps build and maintain strong bones.
• Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium.
• Treatment may include medication alongside nutrition, exercise and lifestyle changes, depending on individual needs.
