Ireland has less than half the Parkinson’s Nurse Specialists it needs.

There are currently 25 Parkinson’s Nurse Specialists nationwide. Based on the 2016 NICE Guidelines, we need 60 to support the 18,000 people living with Parkinson’s in Ireland.

Services are concentrated around cities and Model 4 hospitals, leaving many people without access to specialist support close to home.

For Budget 2027, we are calling for increased HSE recruitment and targeted funding to expand services in areas where access is limited.
