"Awareness, Perception, and Readiness for Telesurgery among Medical Students and Doctors in a University and Tertiary Teaching Hospital in Nigeria"

As telesurgery continues to transform the possibilities for global surgical care, how prepared are healthcare institutions in resource-limited settings to adopt this technology?

This mixed-methods study involving 280 medical students and 110 medical doctors in Nigeria ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ revealed that while 80.5% were aware of telesurgery, only 10.5% had received formal training, and just 22.1% considered their institutions moderately ready or better.

We spend the whole shift checking on everyone else.

And sometimes, when we finally get home, we realize weโ€™ve been answering those questions for everyone but ourselves. Weโ€™re tired. Weโ€™re carrying more than we let on. But the bills still need to be paid, the kids still need us, and another shift can feel like the only answer. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿฉบ

WHEN YOU NEED ONE DOCTOR, BUT 15 SHOW UP! โœˆ๏ธโค๏ธ

In 2003, 67-year-old Dorothy Fletcher from Liverpool became critically ill aboard a flight to Florida for her daughter's wedding.

When the cabin crew asked if there was a doctor on board, 15 cardiologists stood up! They were all travelling to the same medical conference.

The doctors immediately came to her aid, provided emergency care, and helped arrange a diversion to North Carolina.

Dorothy survived and still made it to her daughter's wedding! โค๏ธ

Sometimes, being in the right place at the right time can make all the difference.

A remarkable reminder that medical professionals are never truly off duty when a life needs saving.

Our bones provide structural support, protect vital organs, and enable movement. Maintaining bone health throughout life is essential for mobility, independence, and overall well-being.

Osteoporosis is a skeletal disorder characterised by reduced bone strength, increasing the risk of fractures, sometimes following minor falls or injuries. Although it becomes more common with age, bone loss is not an inevitable consequence of ageing. Prevention, early assessment, and appropriate management can help protect bone health and reduce fracture risk.

This World Osteoporosis Day, let us look beyond the surface and invest in the strength we cannot always see. ๐Ÿ’™

This randomized controlled trial conducted at Kibogora Level Two Teaching Hospital, Rwanda, compared two postoperative pain management strategies following cesarean section.
