A short preview from my upcoming conversation with Graham Skidmore, former corporate executive, entrepreneur and systems thinker.

In this episode, Graham shares his journey through high performance, burnout and personal transformation, and explores what can happen when the systems we build begin to take priority over the people they are meant to serve.

We also discuss identity, purpose, human agency, technology, AI and what it means to create a life that is more aligned with who we actually are.

The full episode of The Integrative Continuum will be released this Friday.

I’m very pleased to have been invited by the NRRI, the National Reflexology Association of Ireland, to be part of this weekend’s event.

I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone over the course of the weekend, and especially to delivering the opening keynote presentation on Saturday: **Bridging Functional Medicine and Reflexology: Integrating Body Systems for Better Patient Outcomes.

It will be a great opportunity to explore how functional, integrative and natural medicine principles can complement the work reflexologists are already doing with their clients.

Outside of the presentation itself, I’m also very happy to chat with attendees throughout the weekend. If you have questions, cases you would like to discuss, or simply want to talk about functional, integrative or natural medicine, please feel free to come over and say hello.

Looking forward to what should be a fantastic weekend.

Why Are You Exhausted?

Fatigue and brain fog are not always simply about needing more sleep.

Oxidative stress can interfere with mitochondrial function, cellular energy production and recovery. When that burden builds up alongside inflammation, blood sugar instability, poor sleep, chronic stress, infections or environmental exposures, the result can be a body that feels increasingly tired, foggy and slow to recover.

In this short, I explain why oxidative stress may be one important piece of the chronic fatigue puzzle.

NOW LIVE: The Hidden Infection Connection with Dr. Richard Horowitz

The latest episode of The Integrative Continuum is now officially live.

I’m joined by Dr. Richard Horowitz for a fascinating conversation exploring Lyme disease, chronic infections, inflammation, immune dysregulation, the 16 point MSIDS framework, and the deeper factors that may contribute to persistent chronic illness.

We also discuss why Lyme is often described as “the great imitator,” the roles of Borrelia, Babesia and Bartonella, environmental and mould related burdens, gut and mitochondrial health, and emerging questions around persistent infection and neurodegenerative disease.

One of the central themes of this conversation is simple: when somebody remains chronically unwell, sometimes we need to look beyond the diagnosis and ask what may still be driving the dysfunction underneath.

What if chronic illness is not simply a collection of separate diagnoses, but different expressions of overlapping biological dysfunction?

In this second teaser from my conversation with Dr. Richard Horowitz, we discuss his 16 point MSIDS framework and why he believes many chronic conditions may share common underlying drivers, including persistent infections, immune dysfunction, inflammation, environmental burden and metabolic disruption.

Rather than stopping at the name of the disease, the bigger question becomes: what is continuing to drive the illness underneath?

The full episode of The Integrative Continuum with Dr. Richard Horowitz releases this Friday.

We explore Lyme disease, Borrelia, Babesia, Bartonella, chronic inflammation, immune dysregulation, neurodegenerative disease, and why complex chronic illness often requires us to look beyond a single diagnosis.

Could chronic infection be one of the missing pieces in neurodegenerative disease?

In this short clip from my upcoming conversation with Dr Richard Horowitz, we discuss why Lyme disease has earned the name “the great imitator,” with symptoms that can overlap with chronic fatigue, ME, fibromyalgia, mould related illness, and other complex chronic conditions.

Dr Horowitz also raises an important emerging question around chronic Lyme disease and Alzheimer’s related biomarkers, and why these findings may require us to think much more broadly about the underlying drivers of cognitive decline and chronic disease.
This is just a small part of a fascinating and wide-ranging conversation.

The full episode of The Integrative Continuum with Dr Richard Horowitz will be released this Friday.

The tables have turned this time.

I am usually the one asking the questions on The Integrative Continuum, but recently I had the pleasure of being the guest on Chris Henry’s The Art 2 Aging podcast.

Chris’s work focuses on how we can age with greater awareness and intention, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. His podcast explores what we can do to support ourselves as we move through the different stages of life, looking at the body, mind and the deeper aspects of wellbeing.

In this episode, we had a great conversation around nutrition, ageing and the choices we make that can influence how well we function as we get older.

Thank you to Chris for the invitation and for the thoughtful conversation.

Energy is not something we can endlessly force from the body.

Caffeine, sugar, and stimulants can make us feel more alert for a time, but they don't necessarily address why our energy is low in the first place. Sometimes they simply help us override the signals the body is trying to give us.

Long-term energy depends much more on the foundations: good sleep, adequate nutrition, stable blood sugar, mitochondrial function, hormonal balance, movement, recovery, and managing the body's overall stress load.

The goal should not simply be to feel stimulated. It should be to build a body that can produce and regulate energy well on its own.

Sometimes fatigue is not something to silence. It is information.
