💉 On a GLP-1 like Mounjaro, Ozempic or Wegovy? Weight loss is only part of the picture.
When your appetite drops, it can become very easy to simply eat less — but your body still needs protein, vitamins, minerals, fibre and good nutrition.
One of the biggest things I talk about with anyone using GLP-1 medication is protecting muscle while losing weight.
🥩 PRIORITISE PROTEIN
Try to include a good source of protein at each meal. During weight loss we can lose lean muscle as well as body fat, particularly if our calorie and protein intake drops significantly.
🏋️♀️ DON’T FORGET WEIGHT-BEARING / RESISTANCE EXERCISE
Walking is fantastic, but try to include resistance or strength training too — weights, resistance bands or body-weight exercises. Maintaining muscle is important for strength, mobility and long-term metabolic health.
🥗 MAKE THE FOOD YOU DO EAT COUNT
When you’re eating smaller portions, focus on nutrient-dense foods: protein, vegetables, fruit, healthy fats, fibre and plenty of fluids.
💊 NEW: BIOCARE NUTRITION SUPPORT
BioCare have now developed Nutrition Support specifically for people using GLP-1 medication.
It contains:
✨ Vitamins & minerals including vitamin D, B12, magnesium, zinc and iron
✨ Digestive enzymes — protease, amylase & lipase
✨ Ginger & artichoke to support digestive comfort
✨ Choline
✨ Gentle PHGG soluble fibre
✨ Oxxynea® plant extracts
GLP-1s slow stomach emptying, which is why some people can experience digestive issues such as bloating, indigestion, constipation and those dreaded “sulphur burps.”
While I wouldn’t claim a supplement will cure sulphur burps, supporting digestion, eating smaller meals, eating slowly and avoiding very large or high-fat meals may help if digestive symptoms are an issue.
The goal shouldn’t just be weight loss.
