Craniosacral Therapy

With Denise at Kathleen Ward’s Health Centre

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on treatment that supports the body’s natural ability
to release tension and find balance. Using light touch and deep listening, it helps restore calm, ease
and wellbeing.
Two main approaches:
- Upledger Model – encourages the release of restrictions in the body and nervous system.
- Biodynamic Model – listens to the body’s innate health and allows natural healing to emerge.
“Health is never lost. It is always present, waiting to be acknowledged.” – Franklin Sill

How CST Can Help:
• Babies – soothe colic, feeding or sleep difficulties, ease the effects of birth.
• Children – support with anxiety, behavioural concerns, developmental changes.
• Teenagers – relieve stress, headaches, sports injuries, exam pressures.
• Adults – reduce pain, release trauma, support relaxation and resilience.

The Role of Breathwork
Breath is at the heart of CST. Gentle awareness of breathing helps calm the nervous system,
release tension, and bring the body back into balance.

A Gentle Path Back to Health
Whether for your baby, child, teenager, or yourself, craniosacral therapy with Denise at Kathleen
Ward’s Health Centre offers a safe and supportive space to relax, heal and reconnect with health.

Anxiety:  What is it?

Anxiety is a term used to describe the symptoms caused by several medical conditions, including panic disorders, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder and social anxiety disorder. It equally affects men and women.

Anxiety is commonly described as the feelings you experience when you are afraid, worried or tense in a situation or about things in general. It is the body’s natural response to fear, threat or change with the ability to affect your thoughts, feelings as well as your body. Hormones are released to make your Brain and body feel more alert. Once the threat has passed, other hormones are released to calm the Brain and help your muscles relax. For some, the thoughts that come with Anxiety can last a long time and can become a long-term problem for some. This causes difficulty in relaxing, sleep may be disturbed and you may feel you cannot switch off.

Mental Symptoms of Anxiety:

Increased nervousness or tension.

Inability to relax.

Worrying.

Feeling tearful

Restless and disturbed sleep.

Behavioural and mood changes.

How to Overcome Anxiety:

Speak with a professional healthcare worker or G.P.

Seek help through Counselling, Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural therapy, Cranio-Sacral therapy.

Exercise regularly: this is vital to raise the Endorphins/happy hormones.

Eat a healthy balanced diet.

Reduce alcohol, caffeine and smoking.

Anxiety, fear and worry affects all of us at some point in our lives. So, learning how to deal with Anxiety is vital.

Bowel and Colon cleanse

A recent study reports that more than half of patients have colons plugged up with layers of filthy, decayed and crusty faecal matter; even though over 80% had bowel movements every day without straining.

**** and laxatives don’t work ****

Colon autopsies show that even with a regular daily bowel movement, you may possibly have 10-12lbs of hardened, toxic, bacteria laden faecal matter stuck in your intestines.

This can cause bloating, abdominal pressure, diarrhoea, fatigue and gastric discomfort.

Your colons main job is to squeeze water and nutrients out of your food as its digested to keep your body hydrated and provide nourishment, when you don’t drink enough water, the food inside your colon dries out too much and gets squeezed into tiny balls of faecal matter. Your colon packs it down so hard that these tiny balls become too hard to pass and therefore you get constipated.

Your bloodstream picks up toxins and poisons and dumps them onto your other eliminative organs such as your kidneys or skin or lungs.

Your lymph (sweat) glands get overloaded and you perspire more.

Your lungs take on some of the poison which gives you bad breath.

Your stomach sticks out and bloats.

Your body store excess toxins as fat in the body.

Sepsis

Researchers from John Hopkins University found 74.1% of all serious harm in hospitals came from a mistaken diagnosis which was actually Sepsis.

1.Sepsis is an overactive response to infection be that from bacterial, fungal, viral or parasitic origin. The Immune response may lead to leaky blood vessels, blood clots, poor blood flow and organ failure.

2.Sepsis is a medical emergency that may, at least, cause severe disability, or can be fatal.

3.Sepsis symptoms tend to develop quickly.

Remember this acronym to recognise symptoms:

T. – Temperature higher or lower than normal, fever, chills or shivering, rapid breathing, rapid heartbeat, dizziness, sweating.

I. - Infection? Any signs now or in recent past? Any skin rash, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting?

M. - Has Mental Status changed? Any sign of confusion or disorientation, slurred speech?

E. – Are you experiencing any Extreme pain or illness, or a feeling that you may die?

So if you encounter any of these symptoms in a loved one, whether they are at home or in hospital, get immediate emergency help to check for Sepsis.

.

Prepare for Winter: Boost Your Immune System.

The recent transition to cooler weather signals the onset of autumn, a period that often presents increased challenges to immune health.

Maintaining an optimal immune response requires a balanced intake of essential nutrients. Given that modern diets frequently rely on processed foods, individuals may struggle to acquire the nutrients necessary to sustain immune strength. Key micronutrients, including Vitamin C, Zinc, and Selenium, are vital for disease resistance and supporting efficient recovery.

The immune system operates through three primary lines of defense:

1. Physical barriers, including the skin and mucous membranes.
2. The innate immune system.
3. The adaptive immune system.

The mucous membranes of the digestive tract rely on a biofilm of beneficial microbes to suppress pathogens. This protective layer can be compromised by mechanical damage or irritants, including nutritional deficiencies, antibiotics, NSAIDs, food and water contaminants, and GMOs, all of which negatively impact this initial defense.

The second line of defense, the innate immune system, utilizes macrophages to detect and neutralize pathogens that breach the body's physical barriers; these cells provide a generalized defense response.

These cells subsequently engage the third line of defense: the adaptive immune system. Components such as beta-glucans can enhance defensive activity during this critical season. This system identifies specific pathogens and "memorizes" their signatures to facilitate targeted destruction upon subsequent exposure.❄️

Are hay fever symptoms persistent into the winter season?

Yes, they can be. Please ensure your residence is adequately ventilated and maintained in a dust-free state. Regularly dampen surfaces to mitigate allergen accumulation. Contact us for info on medicine

Heart and cholesterol ❤️

There is a lot written about Cholesterol and it’s adverse effects on Heart disease. But many people are confused about what their Cholesterol levels mean. This is usually ascertained by a fasting blood test.

What is Cholesterol?

CHOLESTEROL is a type of fat found in your blood.

You need a certain amount for all your body cells to function and to produce important hormones. However, if there is too much Cholesterol in your blood, it sticks to the inner lining of your Arteries or blood vessels to form Atheroma or plaque. As a result of this build-up, your arteries become narrowed.

If an Artery supplying the Heart muscle becomes completely blocked, the heart muscle gets damaged.

This is known as a Heart Attack.

If an Artery to the Brain becomes completely blocked, it damages the Brain.

This is called a Stroke.

We hwve many products here in the clinic to prevent these happening.

Heart month
What affects heart disease?

A number of factors affect heart disease, including certain health conditions, medicines, and other substances. Here is what you need to know:

Stress is linked to heart disease in a number of ways. Research shows that the most commonly reported ‘trigger’ for a heart attack is an emotionally upsetting event, particularly one involving anger.

In addition, some common ways of coping with stress, such as overeating, heavy drinking & smoking, are clearly bad for your heart. The good news is that sensible health habits can have a protective effect. Regular physical activity not only relieves stress, but also can directly lower your risk of heart disease. Stress management programs can also help you develop new ways of handling everyday life challenges. Good relationships count too. Developing strong personal ties reduces the chances of developing heart disease.
