Being highly sensitive means I feel everythingggg.
Other people’s stuff, the room’s stuff, my own stuff, my kid’s stuff all mixed in together.
Some days it’s heavy and hard to shake and it took a long time to figure out what works for me.
So heres what actually shifts my energy in real time 🙌🏻 Not the pretty wellness version you see everywhere. The real, slightly cringe one 🌝
🚿 A cold shower, music turned up loud (usually Rage Against the Machine, honestly) and I visualise it physically washing the dense, heavy energy right off my skin.
💃 nostalgic or uplifting music. I move, I dance, I sing loudly. It shifts something every single time.
🌀Shaking it out: actually shaking, my whole body, standing up. Sounds mad, I know. But your nervous system was designed to discharge stress this way, and it works.
🎵 Humming, loud enough to feel a bit silly. There’s a straight physical line from your voice to your vagus nerve, and it genuinely calms your whole system down.
🧊 Cold water on my face, the back of my neck, and my wrists. I do this after every single client session, without fail! it’s non-negotiable for me now.
🪴Barefoot on the earth whenever I can get outside. I picture a cord/roots running from my body straight down into the earth, grounding me.
🌬️ Breathwork, even just five minutes. Sometimes 4-7-8, sometimes 20 connected breaths in the car, sometimes I turn it into a silly game with my kids when I’m short on time.
None of it is complicated. It’s just consistent and i know it works for me.
