Emmett’s objective has been to put into practice a medical care facility which can be an example of how primary care health through natural medicine can be a more effective alternative than the current monopoly model of allopathic medicine. Emmett started his medical herbalist training at the School of Herbal Medicine in Surrey in 1991 and completed his studies at the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine with a University of Wales accreditation PG Dip in 2002, and a specialist MSc in Cancer treatment. Prior to this Emmett did a specialist animal science degree at UCD in 1976 and an MSc in Nutrition in 1977 which led to Emmett entering medical studies in later years. Emmetts training has equipped him to be a safe medical practitioner using tried and trusted principles of Western Herbal medicine, either alone, or with allopathic medicine. Emmett has trained in pathology, clinical examination skills, differential diagnosis, red flag emergency signs, medical data interpretation and herb – drug interactions. Emmett decided to study Ayurveda from 2005, as this is an unbroken medical science of over 5,000yrs, with the full ancient medical records intact and probably represents the closes living medical system to our own. As a medical practitioner, having taken the “Hypocratic Oath” it is Emmett's duty to provide as good a medical care as is possible to patients at Roscore Clinic. As Emmett progressed in his practice and continued his studies, he began to see how limited Western Allopathic medicine is, as a primary health care provider. It's fundamental modus operandi is very limited, and its response to treatment varying from symptom suppression to very damaging drug side effects. Many people in the West now have a strong sense of the limitations of Western allopathic medicine. in acute medical life threatening conditions. In 2008, Emmett decided to go to India to further his studies in the specialist branch of Ayurveda called Clinical Pancharkarma. He studied under the Vaidya Physicians, Dr Ramkumar of Punarnava Ayurveda in Combatoire, Tamil Nadu and especially Dr K.K. Harikrishnan, at Ayurvedic hospital in Palakkad, Kerala. We also have a Natural Physiotherapy department at Roscore Clinic. Our 3 therapists, Judy O’Reilly , Amy Slevin and Sharon Mahon are highly qualified, all qualifications can be found on our website. www.medicalherbalist.ie
