1 You listen to defend yourself, not to understand.
The moment your partner speaks, you’re already preparing your response
2. You stop sharing the small things.
Your thoughts, fears, excitement, frustrations. Slowly, your inner worlds become separate.
3. You protect yourself instead of being vulnerable.
You withdraw, become defensive, or pretend not to care when what you actually feel is hurt.
4. You assume instead of asking.
You decide what your partner meant, wanted, or felt without getting curious about their experience.
5. You wait for your partner to create the connection.
You want more affection, intimacy, or attention, but stop actively bringing those things into the relationship yourself.
Distance rarely appears overnight.
It grows in the moments when we stop being curious, stop revealing ourselves, and stop reaching toward each other.
Less defensiveness.
Less assumptions.
Less protection.
More curiosity.
More vulnerability.
More intentional connection.
Intimacy isn’t something we either have or don’t have. It’s something we continuously create.
If this resonated with you, share it with someone who wants to build deeper relationships.
My first book on intimacy is coming soon. Follow for more insights on creating deeper, healthier, and more authentic connections.
