Cancer rehabilitation does not have one single goal because the needs of a person can change throughout their care journey.
During treatment, rehabilitation may focus on maintaining function and helping someone manage the physical demands of treatment. After treatment, the priorities may shift towards rebuilding strength, mobility and everyday independence.
In palliative care, rehabilitation can focus on maintaining meaningful function, managing symptoms and supporting dignity. Towards the end of life, the emphasis may shift further towards comfort, positioning, appropriate movement and support for the individual and their family.
Different stages. Different goals. One consistent focus on the person’s quality of life.
At Physiotattva Med Rehab, oncology and palliative rehabilitation is shaped around what matters to the individual at each stage.
