Happy morning dearies !!!
Owning a soap business does not mean I’m hard up for money. It means I have a skill people are willing to pay for and I work hard. There is a difference.
And while we’re here, let me explain something about me:
I am a micro business. I am not a factory. I do not have a production line. I do not have employees standing around pouring, cutting, labeling, and packaging .
It’s me. Hi. I’m the production department.I also work a full-time job.
Every soap, body butter , scrub, balm, and skincare product that leaves my soapery is handcrafted by me in small batches. I source the ingredients. I formulate and make the products. I pour them. I package them. I create and apply the labels. I fill the orders.
And because I am a micro business, I don't have the purchasing power of a large manufacturer. I cannot always buy ingredients, bottles, packaging, labels, and supplies by the thousands to get those deep bulk discounts.
And then we have the last-minute custom orders.
You message me because you suddenly need 30 custom soaps for an event this weekend. You want a particular fragrance, specific colors, custom labels, individual packaging, and of course, you need them ASAP.
Friend.
Soap is not a microwave dinner.
I have to make sure I have your ingredients, fragrance, colorants, bottles or packaging, labels, and everything else needed to complete your order. Then I have to make the products, package them, label them, and prepare everything for pickup or delivery.
And if we're talking about handcrafted cold process soap? Those babies need time to cure. I cannot negotiate with chemistry because your event is Saturday.
Meanwhile, I already have orders ahead of yours from customers who planned ahead, paid their invoices, and respected my turnaround time. I'm not going to push their orders aside because someone else waited until the last minute.
And after all of that, here comes:
Ordering 30, 50, or even 100 handmade products from a micro business does not automatically create the same economies of scale you'd receive from a company producing tens of thousands of units.
Eunoia by Shraya isn't trying to compete with mass production.
I'm offering something different: small-batch, thoughtfully made products handcrafted by one woman who genuinely cares about what goes into every bottle, jar, and bar of soap that leaves her hands. 🫶🏼
So please plan ahead, respect my turnaround times, and understand that my prices aren't pulled out of thin air. They reflect my ingredients, supplies, packaging, overhead, time, skill, and labor.
