Can a person with a different blood group donate a kidney? 🤔
YES! With ABO Incompatible Transplantation, blood group is no longer a barrier.
In this video, I explain:
✅ ABO Compatible: Who can donate to whom? (O is universal donor, AB is universal recipient)
✅ ABO Incompatible: How an O patient can receive from A, B, AB
✅ How we do it: Plasmapheresis, Immunoadsorption & Rituximab to remove antibodies
In experienced centres, results are now close to compatible transplants.
Remember: Blood group is only the first check. Tissue typing (HLA) & Crossmatch are equally important.
For consultation on Kidney Transplant.
