I met a patient today. I learned that an ultrasound had indicated that the patient has only one kidney. The stitches from a recent surgery are still completely fresh, raising several serious questions about what may have happened.

I was informed that the patient may have been taken to a hospital in Ludhiana with the promise of a job and may have undergone this surgery there. However, the actual facts of the matter are still subject to investigation. I have directed that the matter be thoroughly investigated.

As a doctor and as the Health Minister, this is deeply concerning. No person should ever be put at risk by being lured with a promise of employment or any other inducement. The truth must come to light, and if any irregularity is found to have occurred, appropriate action will be taken.

আজ এক রোগীর সঙ্গে দেখা করলাম। জানতে পেরেছি, আল্ট্রাসাউন্ডে তাঁর শরীরে মাত্র একটি কিডনি রয়েছে বলে ধরা পড়েছে। সাম্প্রতিক অস্ত্রোপচারের সেলাই এখনও একেবারে তাজা, যা ঘটনাটি নিয়ে বেশ কিছু গুরুতর প্রশ্ন তুলছে।

আমাকে জানানো হয়েছে, চাকরি দেওয়ার প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়ে তাঁকে লুধিয়ানার একটি হাসপাতালে নিয়ে গিয়ে এই অস্ত্রোপচার করা হয়ে থাকতে পারে। তবে ঘটনার প্রকৃত সত্য এখনও তদন্তসাপেক্ষ। বিষয়টি সম্পূর্ণভাবে খতিয়ে দেখার নির্দেশ দিয়েছি।

একজন চিকিৎসক এবং স্বাস্থ্য মন্ত্রী হিসেবে বিষয়টি অত্যন্ত উদ্বেগজনক। চাকরির প্রতিশ্রুতি বা অন্য কোনও প্রলোভন দেখিয়ে কোনও মানুষকে কখনও বিপদের মুখে ঠেলে দেওয়া মেনে নেওয়া যায় না। সত্য সামনে আসতেই হবে এবং কোনও অনিয়ম প্রমাণিত হলে যথাযথ ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে।
