In this video, Dr Ankur Vats shows the endoscopic view of a child's ear where the eardrum appears significantly swollen. This type of condition can sometimes occur when a cold or upper respiratory infection affects the middle ear and fluid or pus builds up behind the eardrum.

The rounded, pearl-like appearance seen on the eardrum in the video is not actually a pearl. It is the swollen eardrum itself.

Dr Ankur Vats also explains that a similar appearance can sometimes be seen in conditions such as bullous myringitis, where inflammation can cause blister-like changes involving the eardrum.
