Is lighter pigmentation the only sign that LPP treatment is working?
Not necessarily.
LPP management may involve several goals: reducing active inflammation, settling symptoms, preventing new patches, reviewing possible triggers and gradually addressing the pigment already deposited deeper within the skin.
Because inflammation and pigmentation may improve at different speeds, visible fading can take longer than symptom relief or disease stabilisation.
Look beyond one photograph. Track new areas, itching, burning, redness and possible product reactions. Compare monthly photographs taken in identical lighting and attend regular follow-ups.
Progress is not only about colour. Fewer new patches, reduced symptoms and greater stability may also be meaningful changes.
