Follicles not growing as expected during monitoring? Don’t lose hope.
If you visit your doctor for follicular monitoring around Day 12 or 14 of your menstrual cycle and find that your follicle has not grown enough, it can feel disappointing. But one scan does not tell the whole story, and there may be ways to adjust your treatment.
Two possible factors are PCOS (polycystic o***y syndrome) and low AMH, although they affect ovarian function in different ways. With PCOS, follicle development and ovulation may be irregular. With low AMH, the number of eggs remaining in the ovaries may be lower, and the response to fertility medication can vary.
Depending on your scan findings, hormone levels and medical history, your fertility specialist may modify the treatment protocol, adjust medication or recommend gonadotropin injections to support follicular growth. Follow-up scans help assess how your follicles respond and guide the next step.
Every woman’s response to treatment is different. Stay informed, stay in touch with your doctor, and remember that your treatment plan can be tailored to your individual needs.
