Wondering what happens during LASIK? Here is the detailed procedure:

🔹 Step 1 — Preparation: Your eyes are numbed with anesthetic drops and carefully positioned for the procedure.

🔹 Step 2 — Creating the corneal flap: A precise thin flap is created on the cornea.

🔹 Step 3 — Vision correction: A laser gently reshapes the underlying corneal tissue according to your individual eye numbers.

🔹 Step 4 — Flap repositioning: The flap is carefully placed back into position, where it naturally adheres without stitches.

⏱️ The procedure is typically quick, and many patients notice improved vision soon afterward.

👓 LASIK is not suitable for everyone. A detailed eye examination is essential to determine whether you are a suitable candidate.

💡Myth 3: Can eye exercises reduce eyeglasses
number?

✨Fact: Eye number depends on the size and shape of
the eyeball. Eye exercises doesnot alter any of these
parameters. Eye exercises reduce eye strain by
making the muscles relax and contract alternately.
So eye exercises doesnot reduce the glasses number.

There are so many notions about wearing glasses and regarding prescription number.
Lets burst some of the myths related to them.

💡Myth 1.
Does the number reduce if we continously wear glasses?

✨Fact- The number of the glasses depends on the length of the eyeball and its shape.
In Myopia,(minus no) the length of the eyeball is long.
In Hypermetropia,(plus no) the length is short.
In Astigmatism,(cylinder no)the shape of the cornea is not the same in all meridians.

So, as the height increases, the number might increase in myopia, may decrease in hypermetropia or may remain stable.
But the number doesnot decrease by continuously wearing the glasses.

✨Eyes are described as window to the body as many systemic diseases produce visible changes in the eyes which reflect the patient’s systemic status.

👉Diabetes- It causes significant changes in the small blood vessels of the retina and damage with leaky blood vessels causing diabetic retinopathy.

👉Hypertension- Elevated blood pressure causes damage to the retinal circulation and changes in the blood vessels causing ischemic changes in the retina leading to hypertensive retinopathy.

👉High cholesterol- Dyslipidemia causes a gray white line along the outer edge of cornea called Arcus senilis. It is caused by deposition of lipids. Xanthelesma are yellowish lipid deposits around the eyelids.

👉Thyroid eye disease- Graves disease causes tissue and muscle inflammation around the eyes resulting in bulging of the eyes called proptosis along with redness, dryness, lid retraction.

👉Tuberculosis- TB can affect any organ of the body including eyes. Ocular Tuberculosis can cause granulomas in various tissues of eye like uvea, choroid, retina.

👉Vitamin A deficiency- It can cause xerophthalmia, a condition where conjunctiva and cornea can become dry. Bitot’s spots are classic sign which are foamy, whitish patches on the conjunctiva.

Many other conditions can be diagnosed or monitored through the eyes.

Do NOT ignore any eye symptoms, till it becomes serious.
