ATA Action has launched the Cross-State Care Coalition to advance federal legislation that could remove patient barriers to telehealth across state lines. The multi-stakeholder effort will bring together hospitals, health systems, provider organizations, innovators, and virtual care leaders to address licensure rules that can limit access to care.
The coalition is focused on specific circumstances where a narrow federal pathway could solve real access problems while preserving strong safety and accountability protections. It is not intended to override states' broader authority over standards of practice, scope of practice, discipline, patient safety, and professional accountability.
Founding members include Johns Hopkins Medicine, Access TeleCare, AdventHealth, Clara, MedStar Health, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Sanford Health, Talkiatry, and Teladoc Health.
How should policymakers approach interstate telehealth licensure reform?
