Atypical Advantage is proud to partner with Suman Nirmal Minda Foundation and Karna Vidya Foundation under Project Sarthak, an initiative focused on creating meaningful pathways for Persons with Visual Impairments.

The initiative aims to empower visually impaired children through English literacy, digital and smartphone skills, and AI-enabled learning, equipping them for greater independence and future opportunities. To sign the MoU, leaders from the UNO Minda ecosystem and Karna Vidya Foundation came together and discussed how inclusion can become part of organisation building, innovation and growth.

At Atypical Advantage, we believe the goal is simple: recognise ability over disability and create systems where everyone can thrive.

On the occasion of International Sign Language Month, we are looking back at our journey of placing 400+ deaf employees in India's leading manufacturing plants and training over 17,000 corporate employees in Indian Sign Language to bridge communication gaps in everyday interactions.

In this edition, we also explore Vineet Saraiwala’s address at Charcha 2026 on using AI and accessible learning to build active workforce resilience and how DEPwD appeals for Indian Sign Language to become a part of everyday citizenship.

We are proud to share that Laharee ., Co-Founder and Head of Inclusive Hiring at Atypical Advantage, has been recognised with the Role Model Working Professionals Award at the 17th NCPEDP-Mphasis Universal Design Awards 2026.

Over the years, Laharee has been an integral part of Atypical Advantage’s journey towards creating more inclusive workplaces, particularly in the manufacturing sector. Her work has focused on building inclusion beyond recruitment, through accessibility audits, workplace preparation, supervisor sensitisation and post-placement support. Her work has contributed to 410 placements of persons with disabilities, including 250 placements in technical manufacturing roles and 160 in ancillary functions, across 15+ manufacturing plants.

At Atypical Advantage, our journey with the Tata ecosystem has grown from individual collaborations into a strong partnership spanning 25+ Tata companies, creating meaningful employment opportunities for Persons with Disabilities and helping build more inclusive workplaces.

From Tata Steel’s West Bokaro Division, where Persons with Disabilities have been hired as Security Control Room Operators, to Tata Motors PV & CV’s inclusive hiring initiatives across its manufacturing plants in Sanand and Jamshedpur, and Tata AutoComp’s efforts to create opportunities across multiple factories, the Tata Group’s commitment to Disability Inclusion continues to set an inspiring example.

Through Tata Power’s Pay Autention programme, we are also exploring new possibilities through initiatives such as Speed Mentoring, a UI/UX programme for neurodivergent candidates, and the upcoming Spectrum Kitchen project for neurodivergent bakers.

This journey feels especially meaningful because it is rooted in Jamshedpur, where the Tata legacy has touched generations and shaped aspirations. One such story belongs to our founder, who, as a young boy, once spoke in front of the then-MD of Tata Steel, Mr. B. Muthuraman, about how Tata products touch the lives of every Indian.
