Rafi Malik, general secretary of the J&K Pharmacy Graduates Association, highlighted that the global 2026 campaign theme, “Empowering pharmacists for healthier futures,” must serve as an actionable policy blueprint for the Union Territory administration. He said that the region must cease confining pharmacy professionals to outdated technical functions and instead establish transparent, competency-based recruitment framework. According to Malik, creating scientifically justified job descriptions aligned with contemporary pharmacy education is essential for modern healthcare delivery.

The issuance of the long-pending order bringing the Pharmacy Course under the regulatory ambit of the Jammu & Kashmir Pharmacy Council (JKPC) and releasing it from the J&K Nursing Council is a welcome and significant step for the Pharmacy profession in Jammu & Kashmir.
This decision marks an important move towards establishing appropriate professional identity, regulatory clarity and institutional recognition for Pharmacy education and professionals in the Union Territory.
The J&K Pharmacy Graduates Association (JKPGA) welcomes this development and appreciates the efforts that have contributed towards addressing this long-standing issue. It is hoped that this step will further strengthen the regulatory framework for Pharmacy education and practice and pave the way for greater professional opportunities for pharmacy students and graduates across J&K.

Dear Medical Assistant Students,
We would like to clarify certain misconceptions being circulated regarding the status and future prospects of the Medical Assistant course.
The Medical Assistant cadre has been separately structured from the Pharmacist cadre by the Health & Medical Education Department, keeping in view the availability of qualified Pharmacy Graduates and Diploma holders to meet the requirements of Pharmacist posts. Accordingly, separate Paramedical Assistant posts have been created for candidates qualified in the Medical Assistant course.
It is important to clarify that the Medical Assistant course has neither been discontinued nor converted into a Diploma in Pharmacy. Students should therefore not be misled by rumours or unverified information regarding the status of their qualification or cadre.
We sincerely encourage all Medical Assistant students to remain focused on their education and career development.

J&K Pharmacy Graduates Association wishes all Medical Assistant students every success in their future endeavours.

Regards,
Secretary
