Old Master Paintings and Sculptures Roberto Caiati is the sole owner. His gallery deals the finest examples of Paintings, Sculptures and Works of Art.

Caiati Old Master Paintings and Sculptures was founded in 1991 as a successor to the gallery created by Lino Caiati in 1950 based in Via Della Spiga, in the heart of Milan. His personal philosophy bases itself on the appreciation of aesthetics and the emotional appeal of art. The present-day gallery was opened in via Gesù in November 1993 and completely refurbished in 2007, creating an ideal atmosphere for the viewing of paintings by clients and collectors from all over the world. Caiati Old Master Paintings and Sculptures regularly participates in the most important art fairs in Italy and abroad and issues a number of important monographs and catalogues - from Giuseppe Bernardino Bison's monograph in 1998 to the "Arrival of the Bride" by Faustino Bocchi in 2009. The latest of all made in conjunction with the “The Sparkling soul of Terracotta” art exhibition and developed by the main researchers of old Master Sculptors. Roberto Caiati is in contact with the best art dealers in the world to ensure his clients can acces the best pieces in the international arena.

An early drawing by Francesco Hayez, dates around 1817–1820, representing Lot and his Daughters is now on display at the gallery.
Still in his twenties, Hayez was already mixing classical calm with the emotion that would make him one of the great voices of Italian Romanticism.

A skeleton draped in a shroud, resting upon the globe, while a serpent coils around an apple: the Fall, the World, and Death entwined.

Painted on glass with remarkable delicacy, this small work attributed to Joseph Heinz the Elder reminds us, fittingly today, that vanitas vanitatum, all is vanity.

Happy Halloween from Caiati Old Masters 🎃

We are thrilled to announce the sale of Prospero Mallerini’s Crucifix to the Vatican Museums.
This remarkable trompe l’œil is thought to depict the now-lost ivory sculpture commissioned by Filippo Colonna from François Duquesnoy as a gift to Pope Urban VIII Barberini.
It is deeply rewarding to see this work join one of the most revered collections in the world, the museum among all museums.

🗓 Exhibition: June 6th - June 19th

📍 Via Santa Marta 25, Milan

Once grand and opulent noble palaces now lie in ruins, factories that until yesterday were bustling with activity are now forced into silence. While all this teaches us that every great adventure eventually comes to an end, the architectures remain motionless before us, eternal, giving us hope and reminding us that strong foundations ensure a future rich in prosperity.

The title of the exhibition, “memento,” is a Latin term, the imperative of the verb “meminisse” meaning “to remember,” and thus translates to “remember!”
