Lina Leaner 2016 World Champion Bikini Athlete, Level 2 PT/Nutrition Advisor. Health, Fitness & Lifestyle Blogger BY FAILING TO PREPARE, YOU ARE PREPARING TO FAIL.

My interest in fitness started many moons ago with the Jane Fonda workout program, now that really is showing my age… Back in those days, I, like so many women, took my health and fitness for granted and had the belief that a little exercise would allow me to eat what I wanted without too much damage. I spent a few years working as a model and really didn’t take care of my body the way I do now. Yes, yes, genetics have helped me through the years but in my early thirties I really started to appreciate the importance of diet and exercise something that has definitely helped me maintain my current physical and mental condition. In 2005 I set up a business promoting body confidence and self esteem in young girls because I really believe body confidence starts at an early age. If we teach children the importance of a healthy active lifestyle, this is something that will continue later in life. I have since studied to become a personal trainer and nutritional advisor and now impart my knowledge to clients to assist them in achieving their health and fitness goals at ANY age. I now want to use this site to build an online community to empower, support and inspire women of all ages reach their goals. I want to teach the very important and direct correlation of nutrition and exercise on achieving the best version of you. Anyone can be motivated to workout in the gym, however nutrition plays a key part in achieving long lasting results, I call it the 70/30 rule – 70% is about nutrition and the remaining 30% is about exercise. With this in mind, I will be offering top tips, advice and workshops on nutrition and exercise. In 2015 I proved age is just a number by hitting the stage and competing in bikini fitness competitions. 12 months on and through hard work, discipline and consistent nutrition I won my first pro card and came first in the over 45 World Bikini Fitness competition at age 48.

2017 is set to be an exciting year for me and I hope to make it a great year for many other women dedicated to being in the best place physically and mentally. By making a commitment to themselves and learning a whole new approach to nutrition and exercise they will benefit from falling in love with themselves again…

Happy birthday, Castro. 🕊️
Today would have been your 15th birthday, my sweet boy.
How to mark a birthday for a dog who isn't here curled up next to me the way he was every single day for fourteen years.
Four months since I held you. Some days that feels like nothing. Some days it feels like forever. Today it just feels unfair.
You chose me, and I will spend the rest of my life grateful for that. For fourteen years you were my shadow, my constant, my best friend in fur. I would take those fourteen years with you over a lifetime with anyone else. But God, I wanted more. More walks, more mornings, more of your ridiculous little habits that only I knew.
Happy heavenly birthday, Castro. You left paw prints on my heart that will never fade. I miss you in a way I don't have words for.

"The price of a dog is a broken heart"

Although a month has passed since Castro left this world, I am still navigating grief through the silence. No more barking. No more sounds of little footsteps moving through the house — the familiar sounds that made these four walls a home. I find myself grieving not only what was, but what never got the chance to be. The trips I had planned with him. The long summer hikes. The beach walks with the wind in his fur. We were supposed to have more time.

We both died on Friday 13th March. Castro stopped breathing, and a part of me stopped with him.

From the day he came into my life, he came to work with me, travelled beside me, sat with me in restaurants and was always at my side. We were inseparable. Through every storm life threw at me, Castro was my constant — the one who showed up, curled up close, and reminded me that everything would be okay.

Routines have shifted in ways I am not ready for. No reason to rush home. No one waiting at the door, beside himself with joy, as if my return was the greatest event of his entire day. He gave every ordinary moment meaning.

It is an identity shift as much as a loss. Without him, the ground beneath me feels uncertain. I am trying so hard to rebuild, to mend my heart — but some grief feels less like a journey and more like a landscape you simply learn to live inside. Erasing the pain of his loss feels like erasing the joy of his life. I can't have one without the other, which is why I carry the weight of this grief.

Castro made me happy in a way that was quiet and complete. And that part of me — the part shaped by him, that existed because of him — left with him the day he died.

But although this pain is the heaviest I have ever carried, I would choose him again. Every single time. Without hesitation.

"To grieve deeply is to have loved deeply."

And I loved him deeply. 🤍

Heartbreak is the price I paid for loving you, and what a privilege it was.

Fourteen years with you by my side. My shadow. Through every chapter, every city, every version of my life — you were there.

The universe picked me to be your mumma, and how lucky was I.

I feel so blessed that I was with you in your final moments, and for the hours I spent holding you after you were gone. I hope you felt how much you were loved, because I know — without any doubt — that I was your whole world. And you were mine.

Castro brought me the kind of joy and unconditional love that humans so easily forget exists. He never forgot. Not once. And it wasn't just me — Castro had a gift. That smile of his and his uniquely high-pitched, immediately recognisable bark could stop strangers in their tracks and win hearts within seconds. He connected with people in a way that was entirely his own. Everyone who met him, remembered him.

Walking through the front door will never be the same. Morning cuddles, coffee mornings, sitting together on the couch, our walks — all of it changed now. He followed me everywhere, even to the loo. He sat patiently by the shower every single time, and in the kitchen he was my loyal sous chef, always nearby and waiting for payment in bits of food. The quietness he has left behind is something I will never begin to understand.
For now, I am left only with his ashes. But I hope and pray that once the pain of losing him — of holding him through his last painful breaths — begins to soften, all the memories, the adventures, and the joyful times will find their way back to me. And that is how I will carry him forward.
Through my heartbreak, there is comfort in knowing that his pain and suffering are finally over. He can run free now, without struggle, without hurt — bounding across rainbow fields to meet all the dogs who went before him, tail wagging, that bark echoing, that smile lighting up wherever he is. He is finally at peace, and he deserves every moment of it.

Life will never be the same again. And somehow, that is the greatest testament to what we had.

I love you forever, my little one. 🤍

Thank you for capturing him so beautifu

It doesn’t get much better than this.
Eating the season, exactly as it should be.
Fresh borlotti bean stew with skin-on spiced roasted butternut squash, topped with jewel-bright pomegranate and a side of vegan rocket pesto.
When we eat with the seasons, the food hits another level.
Here’s to eating the rainbow 🌈

How many chillies is too many chillies? Asking for a friend...
Chillies aren’t just for setting your mouth on fire - they boost your mood, fire up your metabolism, protect your heart, AND give you glowing skin. Basically… a tiny red life coach and nature’s way of saying “cry now, thank me later.”

I stumbled into magic yesterday in Loreto Marche. By pure chance, I found myself at the Palio del Drappo – the town’s centuries-old horse race. The day began with a breathtaking parade: each contrada dressed in rich medieval costumes, banners flying, drums rolling, and fanfares echoing through the flag lined streets. Then came the heart of it all – the horses who thundered uphill towards the finish, and were cheered on by the whole roaring town.
It felt like stepping back in time, surrounded by tradition, colour, costumes and pride. Sometimes the best travel moments are the ones you never plan. This event will most definitely be in my calendar for next year...

Nobody really talks about anticipatory grief when it comes to our pets.
My rational mind knows his time isn’t endless, and that I should take a leaf out of his book and simply live in the moment — but the grief I already feel, knowing he won’t be here forever, is very real.
I remind myself daily, how lucky I am to have shared almost fourteen wonderful years with him, yet it’s still hard to imagine a life without him by my side.
So, what can I do? I’ll shower him with love, wrap him in cuddles, and savour every single moment we still have together.
Thank you to for capturing some special moments More to follow...

Today, my fur baby Castro, turns 14.
Fourteen years of love, chaos, loyalty, and unforgettable moments.
We’ve lived a lot of life together. He’s been by my side through everything—the heartbreaks, the milestones, the mess, the growth. Always there. His love is loud, his bark even louder (you’ll hear him before you see him), and his presence... irreplaceable.
These days, he’s living with dementia. Some moments are confusing for him, and yet somehow he still finds joy in the simple things—a patch of sun, a familiar face, the routines. And I try, every single day, to meet him in the present. To love him without fear of what's coming.
He’s still living la vita bella—the good life. He’s mastered il dolce far niente, ruling this town like he owns it (and frankly, he kind of does). He’s not just my dog; he’s the town mascot, the stubborn prince of the piazza, a four-legged reminder to slow down and love harder.
Happy 14th Birthday, my darling Castro.
You are my joy, my soul companion, my little miracle.
Thank you for every moment—we’re still making memories, one precious day at a time. 💛

Another first ticked off the list.
This was my Wednesday night.
Climbing Monte Camicia (2,564m) was no small feat — and mamma mia, was it worth every step. The view from the top as the sun dipped below the peaks was one of those moments that makes your heart swell and your legs forget they’re aching.
As Sir Edmund Hillary once said, “It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.” And that couldn’t feel more true today.
Along the way, I was in awe of the wild beauty that clings to these rugged heights — delicate alpine flowers like the Stella Alpina (Edelweiss, also known locally as Stella Brillante — tick it off the list!), blooming out of rugged stone. And we even spotted the shy Camosci — the Abruzzo chamois, native to the Apennines and symbol of the Gran Sasso mountains.
Huge heartfelt thanks to Wolftours for creating such magical, unforgettable memories. You’ve shown me a wilder, deeper side of Italy that I’ll carry with me always.
This wasn’t just a hike. It was a reminder of how small we are — and how much beauty there is when we slow down enough to see it.
