The Studio!

Using the Kango, we break up the tiles before shovelling the broken pieces into the wheelbarrow and tipping them onto the back of the tipper, ready for disposal later.

These tiles certainly didn’t want to come up easily! It took us around two days of hard work to break through the flooring and get it all removed.

We then move over to **Maison Violette**, where we come across a pretty cool find along the way before getting back to work on the kitchen floor.

The Kango comes out again as we continue breaking up and removing the existing floor, getting the kitchen ready for the next stage when the floor can be levelled out.

Two different locations, plenty of demolition, and another step forward in transforming both **The Studio and Maison Violette**.

We start off by clearing up the chalk-type block walls after knocking them down, using shovels to move the rubble into a barrow before transporting it onto the back of the tipper truck. The rubble is then taken around the back of the large cattle shed, ready for dumping.

We then move inside and start ripping the wooden panelling from the ceiling on the ground floor, exposing the insulation behind it. The insulation is pulled down and bagged up ready for disposal at a later date.

Next, we head upstairs. Using a sledgehammer to break through the floorboards and crowbars to lever the boards up, we gradually remove the flooring and all the nails holding it in place.

Eventually, we're left with a shell of a building, with the original wooden beams separating the ground and first floors still in place. It has yet to be decided whether these beams will stay or be removed.

The Studio!

We have big plans for this space, envisioning it as a one-up, one-down living area with a kitchen and living space downstairs, and a bedroom and bathroom upstairs.

Sonny and Charlton get started in the living area by removing the storage shelving installed by the previous owner. By stripping away many of the newer additions, we can create a blank canvas and start imagining what this space could become.

It’s another exciting step in developing the estate, as we move from clearing and preparing the space to creating something entirely our own.

Follow along as The Studio begins its transformation!

We continue spreading and compacting the white hoggin substrate for the new car park, using the digger to unload and distribute it evenly before raking it out and compacting everything with the wacker plate.

Then it’s time for a couple of rather unusual deliveries! Using the Merlo telehandler, we unload a second-hand oven that we’ve brought over from Jersey and get it safely into the Château kitchen. We also move an impressive Art Deco piano weighing around 200kg into the Manoir dining room.

Meanwhile, the lads get stuck into preparing the new flower beds. The fertile soil we previously created is brought into place around the parking area, ready to form the new beds behind the oak sleepers.

Another busy day of hard work, machinery, landscaping and plenty of progress around Château de Razac!

At Château de Razac, we continue transforming the grounds around the Manoir as two major areas begin to take shape.

We start by moving a large quantity of white hoggin substrate (calcaire) to create a new car parking area in front of the Manoir. The material is tipped onto a membrane, then raked and spread evenly across the area before being compacted and levelled using the wacker plate.

It's another big step in transforming the exterior of the Manoir, with the parking area and pergola beginning to turn the plans we've had for the property into something tangible.

From the restoration of the historic buildings to the gardens, driveways and surrounding grounds, every part of Château de Razac is gradually being brought together.
