Then & Now: Dr. Monique Lynch-Jonah — Class of 2007

One of our 2026 ICHS Hall of Fame Inductees!

From the football field at Immaculate to making an impact through leadership and wellbeing! ⚽💙

Meet Dr. Monique Lynch-Jonah, Class of 2007, Project Manager and Managing Director of Inspired 360 Wellbeing CIC.

Her Immaculate days were filled with sport, friendship and memorable lunchtime moments with her girls.

Since then, her journey has included an incredible milestone: receiving the Prime Minister’s Youth Award in 2017.

Through every stage, she has carried one important lesson with her: difficulties can become stepping stones on the journey towards excellence.

Her advice? Focus on building good character as it is the sustaining force beneath success.

From Immaculate girl to University Chancellor!

Meet Donette Chin-Loy Chang, a proud member of the Class of 1971, whose remarkable journey has taken her from the halls of Immaculate Conception High School to the distinguished role of Chancellor of Toronto Metropolitan University.

Once an aspiring lawyer, Donette went on to build a career in journalism, proving that where you start is not always where you end up!

Her commitment to celebrating the achievements of fellow Immaculate women also inspired her to convene the ICHS Hall of Fame, creating a lasting platform to honour the extraordinary women shaped by our beloved institution.

Looking back, she fondly remembers the May processions, dedicated teachers and lifelong friendships that made her Immaculate experience unforgettable.

Her advice to the next generation?

“Be open minded, where you start is not always where you end up. Protect your mental and physical health. Be kind. Give forward.”

And to her younger self? “Enjoy the moment. Savour the journey.”

From then to now, Donette's story reminds us that success is not defined by where we begin, but by our determination to keep growing, giving and making a difference.

Happy Friday!

Today we highlight ICHS Hall of Famer, Cathrine Sani!

She was once told she would never pass Geography. She did. And decades later, she would graduate from university with High Distinction. 💙🤍

Cathrine reminds us why we should never allow someone else’s assessment of our potential to become our own.

After finding school difficult, she returned to the classroom at 38 and, at 42, earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto with High Distinction. Her continued dedication to ICHS through the Toronto Chapter would later earn her induction into the ICHS Hall of Fame.

From Girl Guides and Glee Club to a lifetime of perseverance and service, her story carries a lesson worth remembering:
“Don’t let others define you.”

And her advice to the generations coming behind her? “You will be disappointed in life, but never be discouraged.”

From Drama, Spanish, Campus Ministry and Sign Language at Immaculate to a career in education and interpreting, Kadia’s journey is a beautiful reminder that the interests nurtured in our school days can help shape who we become.

Years later, she still carries with her the confidence, grace and adaptability fostered at Immaculate, and one simple piece of advice for the next generation:
“Trust the process!”

This National Alumni Week, we celebrate Kadia and the many Immaculate women whose journeys continue to reflect the values and experiences that began within our halls.

In today’s Then & Now feature, we highlight Ava Marie Bigby-Edmond Class of 1987 💙🤍

From the track and field, netball and volleyball courts to serving as Grade Captain, Sports Captain, Prefect and House Captain of Immaculata, Ava’s Immaculate years were filled with leadership, competition and school spirit.

Today, she continues to lead and serve in several capacities, including as a Senior Investment Advisor, Barita Investments, Realtor Associate, Justice of the Peace and Certified/Gazetted Mediator.

And the lesson that has stayed with her through the years? Dedication and determination will determine your destiny.
Her advice to the next generation of Immaculate girls says it best:

“Arise, go forth and conquer… no limits, explore!”

Today, we feature our ICHSAA President, Carmela Azan Richards — Class of 1992

From class joker to leading the ICHS Alumnae Association, talk about a full-circle moment! 💙🤍

For Carmela Azan Richards, Class of 1992, Immaculate was a place of friendship, laughter and lessons that would remain with her long after graduation. Today, as a Director of Business and President of the ICHS Alumnae Association, she is giving back to the community that helped shape her.

Her journey is a reminder that success is built not only on talent, but on discipline, consistency, resilience and a willingness to serve others.

Her advice to the next generation? Do the work, trust the small efforts, and don’t be too hard on yourself along the way.
