Happy Autumn Equinox. ✨

The arrival of kinmokusei (金木犀) or fragrant osmanthus marks the arrival of Fall and today the arrival of equinox where we experience equal day to equal night. Now we take the slow walk towards winter and hibernation. The sweet smell of osmanthus that permeates the air is a reminder that sweet summer will come around again.

City nature is everywhere if you can slow down from time to time to glimpse it. I caught this stylish moth flirting with this road side sunflower. Together they were more chic than the fashion in the store windows! 🦋🌻✨

Our Slow-Stitch Mark-Making circle had to gather virtually due to Mother Nature’s abundant showers this week, but that did not stop the beautiful connection to the ritual practice of thread and needle. Five individuals explored how slow stitch and mark-making on fabric can provide them release, ease, connection to their body and ancestors and a sense of community. Thank you to all who joined in. 😊🪡🧵

The next Mark-Making as Mindful Practice will be playful exploration in pen and ink and under the trees of Yoyogi Park (should nature be willing to give us a dry morning) on Friday, Oct 2 10-1145am. Registration open now, follow link in bio to website.

A quiet forest in the middle of Tokyo. 🌳

This is Koishikawa Botanical Gardens. It is a lush piece of land with cypress and pine and old ancient trees of cherry wood and Zelkova. The canopy is thick and the land has deep history hosting two sacred Shinto shrines, a traditional Japanese garden with pond and a medicinal herb garden. It is rarely filled with people and each time I walk I find new discoveries and wonders.

Curious? Come join me for a morning of WANDER + REST An Urban Forest Bathing and Nature Walk. Saturday, September 12 10am.

The invitation to slow ourselves in nature is always time spent worthwhile and feeling replenished after is a true gift.

For more info and to register follow link in my bio to my website and click REGISTER.

I hope you’ll come slow down with me between land and sky. ✨
