hosted Prof. Dr. Rainer Sauerborn and Dr. Sandra Barteit from the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health (HIGH), alongside Prof. Collins Iwuji of the APCC African Cohort Consortium, for a conversation on potential areas of collaboration.

The discussions explored how data, technology and innovative approaches can help us better understand and respond to the health impacts of climate change.

APHRC’s Executive Director Catherine Kyobutungi highlighted that the two institutions share distinct avenues for collaborative research. The evidence produced through these joint initiatives will reinforce APHRC’s mission to shape decision-making, guide policies and programs, and advance service delivery and practice throughout Africa.

Despite years of investment in teacher training, learning materials, and education programs, many children continue to struggle with basic literacy and numeracy.

Recent findings from 's study across 200 public primary schools in 11 counties show that although teachers are actively engaged, students do not consistently participate in learning.

In their article, Nelson Muhia, Fridah Gatwiri Kiambati (PhD), and Sarah Munyao PhD highlight a vital next step based on these insights: establishing the conditions educators need to implement practical, learner-centered differentiated instruction in everyday classrooms.

Global health is changing, shaped by shrinking development assistance, geopolitical fragmentation, growing country capacity, and emerging technologies.

A new Nature Medicine Comment, co-authored by 's Executive Director Catherine Kyobutungi and other global health experts, calls for a reimagined global health system that places countries and national health systems at the center, while strengthening global and regional cooperation where collective action is needed.

The authors note that most countries remain far below this target. Increased investment in research can also strengthen academic institutions and their role in generating evidence to inform policy and implementation. To achieve this, a key actionable step for nations is to scale up funding for health research, striving toward the targeted 2% allocation of health spending.

In this Comment, we argue for a global health system that recognizes and supports countries as the primary agents of action, oriented around global public goods and collective action, and served by a leaner set of global and regional institutions. We present a potential vision for the functions and....
