Sometimes one client can change the direction of an entire career.

Shortly after graduating, Sharon worked with a client who wore a wig, keeping her natural hair cut short. She would get her hair cut and blow-dried, then put the wig back on before leaving. The wig had nothing to do with hair loss. She just didn’t feel confident caring for her own hair, because no one had ever shown her how, helped her find the right products, or even asked about her wig.

For Sharon, it was an eye-opening moment. She realized that a client’s visit was about so much more than a haircut. It was an opportunity to empower someone with knowledge, so they could care for their hair with confidence long after they left the chair.

That realization sparked a commitment that has never stopped. Sharon set out to understand every service and every product she offered, which led her to study cosmetic chemistry on her own, years before she became a Certified Trichologist.

Not every trichologist or cosmetologist takes that path, and it’s a big part of the expertise behind ROgHA® Hair System today.

At Sharon’s educational events, she asks a question that gets many people thinking:

“What are the two most common factors people consider when choosing a shampoo?”

The answers rarely change: the scent, and the texture (how thick it feels and how much it lathers).

It makes sense. We open the cap, take a sniff, feel the product, and make a choice.

Who doesn’t love a shampoo that smells amazing and has lots of bubbles?

When Sharon shares the facts about scent and texture, many people are surprised. Neither one determines how well a shampoo actually works.

There’s also something to understand about scent and how it’s labeled. On many cosmetic labels, the word “fragrance” or “parfum” is used as an umbrella term, standing in for a mix of ingredients that don’t have to be listed individually.

That’s why ROgHA® Hair System lists every ingredient on our ingredient deck, with no umbrella terms. What you see is what’s in the bottle. 🫶

After a cancer diagnosis, the questions start right away. For many people, questions about hair and scalp changes come up early, and finding answers can be surprisingly hard to navigate.

Sharon knows this from her own experience. While caring for members of her family during their cancer treatment, she found that her professional knowledge could help in a whole new way. She was able to answer their hair and scalp questions, explain the reasons behind the changes they were experiencing, and walk them through the choices they had available. That understanding eased their worries and gave them something many patients feel they’ve lost: a sense of control.

Seeing what that meant to her family, Sharon knew other patients and caregivers deserved the same support. So she created a free hair and scalp care education program, offered in person and virtually, and she leads every session herself.

Since launching the program in 2017, Sharon has helped many patients and caregivers across New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Before each competitor arrives and each competition begins, there are many steps happening behind the scenes.

For 28 years, Sharon was part of that work, preparing the cosmetology competition while serving as a judge and then as an events manager.

This work is close to her heart. Sharon began her own career as a vocational high school student competing in VICA (now SkillsUSA), and mentoring the next generation of vocational students has always been one of her passions.

For the past two years, ROgHA® Hair System has proudly sponsored the SkillsUSA Massachusetts state competition and leadership conference, the same state competition where Sharon once competed. It’s her way of supporting students and paying forward the start that shaped her career.

Thank you to SkillsUSA Massachusetts and to every advisor, judge, and volunteer who helps these students grow. 🫶

What a special day for ROgHA® Hair System! 💚

On September 27, our community came together at Epigram Brew Co. for the 2nd Annual Build the CASTLE Fundraiser. During the event, guests sponsored CASTLE Kits for patients.

Today, Sharon delivered those kits to the Solinsky Center for Cancer Care at the Elliot Hospital. Getting ready for the grand opening took a lot of hard work, planning, setup, and moving in after mall hours. It even got Sharon on a ladder!

On August 13, 2021, ROgHA® Hair System opened a pop-up store for a limited time at the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, NH.

From the start, it was designed as an Education and Retail Center. It gave people a place to stop in, ask questions, and get honest answers about their hair, their scalp, and the products they use.

Looking back at these photos, we're reminded how much of what we do today started right here, with an open door and a commitment to education.
