A study by AMC researchers found that rehabilitation is safe and effective for patients with blood cancers. Among 34 patients, physical function improved after rehabilitation, with those receiving more than 20 sessions showing a 30.8% improvement. No serious complications such as falls or bleeding occurred, even among high-risk patients. The findings support the need for systematic rehabilitation programs and dedicated resources for patients with blood cancers. 🏥🩸💪🧑⚕️🦵❤️🩹📈

AMC and the Korea National Institute of Health have launched the AGIJIGI project to establish a Korean newborn genomic screening system. The project uses whole genome sequencing to detect rare genetic diseases in healthy newborns within 28 days of birth, enabling earlier treatment and proactive health management. 🧬👶🔬

The nationwide study involves six hospitals and plans to recruit 1,800 newborns by 2028, starting with 500 in the first year. The research will assess the diagnostic, clinical and economic utility of genome based newborn screening and provide evidence for its potential adoption as a national screening policy. 🧪🩺💡🧬🏥

Patients with chronic otitis media can achieve hearing outcomes comparable to those with typical sensorineural hearing loss after cochlear implantation, even after more than 20 years of hearing loss. However, patients with accompanying labyrinthitis had poorer outcomes, highlighting the importance of preoperative MRI. The findings suggest that cochlear implantation can effectively restore hearing in chronic otitis media patients who no longer benefit from hearing aids. 👂🔊🦻🏥🔬✨
