Good news for anyone who doesn’t always have an hour to dedicate to a workout: movement doesn’t only count when it comes with gym clothes and a carefully planned routine.

Exercise “snacks” are short bursts of activity sprinkled throughout your day. Think a brisk 5-minute walk, a set of squats while the coffee brews, a few trips up the stairs, or some calf raises between meetings.

Those little bouts of movement can add up, help break up long periods of sitting, and make being active feel much more manageable on busy days.

A full workout is great when you can fit one in. But never underestimate the value of doing something when “something” is what your day allows.

Turns out snacking between meals isn’t always frowned upon. 😉

“Got it...Olympic trials here we come” 🏃💨😅

Walking might not feel as exciting as running, but sometimes that’s exactly the point. It gives you a lower-impact way to rebuild your tolerance to activity, work on endurance, and get your muscles and joints used to regular loading again.

Running isn’t “bad” for your body, and walking isn’t automatically “better.” But if you’re returning from an injury, getting back into exercise, or your body simply isn’t ready for the demands of running yet, walking can be the smarter place to start.

You can always build up the speed, distance, and intensity as your body adapts.

The Olympics will still be there when you’re ready 😉🏃‍♂️

Feeling stiff after sitting at your desk, getting out of the car, waking up in the morning, or the day after activity doesn’t automatically mean you need to stop moving.

Often, a little gentle movement is exactly what feels good. Take a short walk, change positions, work through a comfortable range of motion, and give your body a chance to warm up.

Of course, persistent or worsening stiffness, especially when accompanied by significant pain or other symptoms, deserves a closer look.

But the occasional creak when you stand up?
Your body may just be politely requesting that you use it 💪

What does being “fit” at 75 actually look like?

We’d argue it has a lot less to do with touching your toes and a lot more to do with whether your body can comfortably handle everyday life.

1️⃣ Can you get yourself off the floor?
2️⃣ Carry your luggage?
3️⃣ Take the stairs?
4️⃣ Balance while getting dressed?
5️⃣ Walk around a new destination without worrying about how far you have to go?

These abilities might seem ordinary now, but maintaining them requires strength, balance, mobility, and endurance. And those are things we can continue working on long before we actually need to worry about losing them.

So when you strength train, walk, work on your balance, or make time for mobility, remember what you’re really training for.

Not just fitness.

More freedom to keep saying yes to life 💪

Save this one as a reminder of what the long game really looks like

Some people learn by watching, others need to jump right in....and suddenly your physio appointment looks suspiciously well choreographed 😅

Practicing an exercise together gives you a chance to feel the movement, ask questions, and make adjustments while we’re right there with you.

So if “watch me first” quickly becomes “okay, let’s do it together,” we’re happy to be your exercise partner 💃💪

If simply adding more weight were always the answer, physio would be pretty easy 😅

Progress doesn’t have to mean making an exercise heavier or more complicated. Sometimes the better challenge is slowing the movement down, improving your control, working through a little more range, or simply doing it consistently enough for your body to adapt.

The goal isn’t to make every exercise as difficult as possible. It’s to choose the right challenge for what your body needs right now, then progress from there.

Harder can be better, but smarter usually wins 💪

Travel has a funny way of turning "I'll definitely exercise while I'm away" into "Does walking to breakfast count?"

That's why we like resistance bands.

They're light, easy to pack, and can give you plenty of options for maintaining some strength and movement while you're away from your usual routine.

You don't need to recreate your entire gym workout on holiday. A few familiar movements can be enough to keep your body moving and make returning to your normal routine feel a little less dramatic.

And unlike your running shoes, they take up approximately zero suitcase real estate

A flare-up doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve re-injured your back...Sometimes you’ve simply asked your body to do a lot more than it’s been used to lately. That’s why we ask about what you’ve been doing, even the fun stuff!

So yes, please tell your physio if you have been cutting a rug on the dance floor. We’re not judging your moves, we’re just trying to solve the mystery 💃🕵️

Before you blame the first few holes on “warming up”… give your body five minutes at the clubhouse 😅⛳

Before your next round, check in:

✔ Rotate: Can you comfortably turn your trunk in both directions?
✔ Balance: Can you stand steadily on either leg?
✔ Squat: Can you perform a few controlled squats comfortably?

This isn’t a pass-or-fail test. It’s a quick way to notice how your body is feeling today. If something feels stiffer, shakier, or more restricted than usual, spend a little extra time gradually warming up that movement before you start swinging at full speed.

Your first tee shot shouldn’t also be your body’s first warning that golf has started 😉⛳

When we talk about staying fit as we get older, strength gets a lot of attention, and for good reason.

But there’s another piece of the puzzle worth thinking about:
💥 power 💥

Strength is your ability to produce force. Power is your ability to produce that force quickly. You use it when you catch your balance after a stumble, get up quickly, climb stairs, change direction on the
tennis court, or put some speed behind a golf swing.

And because our ability to generate power tends to decline with age, it’s something worth intentionally maintaining.

That doesn’t mean you need to start doing box jumps tomorrow 😅

Power can be trained appropriately for your current ability, often by gradually adding speed or intent to movements you already know once you’ve built the strength and control to do them safely.

We don’t just want your body to be strong enough for life. We want it ready to respond when life moves quickly 💪
