Browns Veterinary Pharmaceuticals was recently awarded the tender by the Smallholder Agribusiness Partnerships Programme (SAPP) to supply Dip Coolers – milk cooling equipment – to dairy farmers attached to MILCO.
But this initiative is about much more than supplying equipment. It is about bringing technology closer to our farmers and creating better opportunities for them to increase productivity, improve milk quality and strengthen their livelihoods.

The Smallholder Agribusiness Partnerships Programme (SAPP) is a programme implemented under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation, with the support of the Government of Sri Lanka and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
SAPP works through a Public–Private–Producer Partnership (4P) model, connecting government institutions, private-sector partners and smallholder farmers to create commercially sustainable agricultural value chains.
Within the dairy sector, one of the key objectives is to enhance milk production and quality while promoting evening milking and strengthening the milk collection and cooling chain.

The introduction of Dip Coolers provides dairy farmers with an important tool to safely cool and preserve freshly collected milk, supporting better milk handling and helping farmers participate more effectively in the dairy value chain.
A major objective of this initiative is to encourage evening milking, enabling farmers to make better use of their dairy herds and contribute to increased milk collection and production.

The main ceremony marking the distribution of Dip Coolers was held at the MILCO Galle Milk Centre, bringing together government representatives, the Mayor and local authorities, MILCO officials, the Browns Dairy Sector team, suppliers and, most importantly, the MILCO dairy farmers who are at the heart of this initiative.
Around 60 dairy farmers received their Dip Coolers at the main ceremony, marking an important milestone in the programme.

More than 750 MILCO dairy farmers are set to receive Dip Cooler machines through the Browns team across several regions of the country.
The distribution programme is being carried out across:
📍 Uva 📍 North Western 📍 Southern 📍 Central 📍 Northern 📍 North Central regions
Through this initiative, Browns is proud to play a role in connecting farmers with technology, technology with productivity, and productivity with better livelihoods.
Every Dip Cooler represents more than a piece of equipment.
It represents an opportunity for a farmer to improve milk handling, increase production and participate more effectively in the dairy value chain. Ultimately, it represents an opportunity to build a stronger and more sustainable future for Sri Lanka’s dairy farming community.
Browns is proud to be a partner in this journey. Together with SAPP, MILCO, our partners, suppliers and Sri Lanka’s dedicated dairy farmers, we are working towards a stronger dairy industry and a more empowered farming community.
