Something shifted while I was away.
Not in Tamraght. It was exactly where I left it: sun, dust, hills, ocean, cats in inconvenient places.
I think I’d just stopped looking properly.
Coming back after a few days in Sheffield, I wanted to go straight into the water. The light felt different. The village felt interesting again. Even the walk uphill felt, well… still uphill, but at least I was looking around.
Maybe that’s part of calling somewhere home. It becomes ordinary enough that you stop noticing it properly.
And then, every so often, you come back and see the whole place again.
