Malta-founded AI company EBO has secured investment from Olea Venture Partners, a specialist healthcare and life sciences investor, as the company sets its sights on scaling its patient engagement platform across European markets and into the United States.
The funding is directed at three clear priorities: accelerating adoption of EBO’s platform among healthcare systems and providers, expanding the technology into new clinical and operational workflows, and supporting the company’s international growth ambitions. Olea’s focus on healthcare and life sciences means the backing brings more than financial firepower, it carries sector-specific credibility and networks in markets where regulatory familiarity and established trust carry real weight in the sales and adoption process.
EBO, led by chief executive Gege Gatt, builds AI-powered tools designed to handle the kind of high-volume, routine patient engagement work that places a considerable burden on healthcare organisations. Its platform covers appointment management, patient self-assessments, and care pathway communications, tasks that would otherwise absorb significant administrative resource. By automating those interactions, EBO aims to free up clinical and operational staff while keeping patients better connected to their own care journeys.
For a company with its roots in Malta, the planned push into the United States is a notably ambitious step. US healthcare is among the most fragmented and heavily regulated systems in the world, but it is also the largest, and demand for tools that can meaningfully reduce administrative strain has been building steadily. EBO’s proposition sits directly in that gap. The company has not disclosed the financial terms of the deal.
