🍂 What You’ll Experience
-Meridian stretching
-Embryology
-Lungs and Large Intestine organs
-Movement practices

🍂 Series Highlights
Awakening Breathing in the Lobes of the Lungs

We bring our attention to different areas of the lungs, including the lobes and the experience of breathing through the cells and alveoli (air sacs). Rather than trying to control the breath, we use movement and attention to become more receptive to the sensations of breathing.

🌫️ Haze is here. Are you becoming more aware of the importance of breathing?

As we prepare for KiTaRi’s upcoming Lung and Large Intestine Series, we’re bringing back with a muscle that works quietly with every breath we take: the diaphragm.

You might work hard to build six-pack abs, but how much do you know about the muscle that plays a key role in every breath?

The diaphragm moves with each breath, working together with the ribcage and other respiratory muscles to support natural inhalation and exhalation.

In this workshop, we won’t simply count breaths or practise breathing deeply. Through touch, movement and body awareness, we’ll explore how the diaphragm and ribcage move, and how the whole body participates in breathing.

Understand your breath, reconnect with your body, and begin our exploration of the Lung and Large Intestine Series through the diaphragm.

📩 PM for registration!

KiTaRi Soil Energy Series — Bodywork 09

In our final class of the KiTaRi Soil Energy Series, we explored the hip, the deep centre of the body, and movements that are often difficult to sense.

We worked with the hip ligaments, exploring the relationship between expansion and condensation, and how this connects with my understanding of Yin and Yang as a continuous relationship between movement and counter-movement.

A passage from the Huangdi Neijing also brought my attention to Ren Mai, Chong Mai, Qi and Blood, and made me wonder:

As we move through different stages of ageing, could maintaining balance, circulation and adaptability in the body support our relationship with Qi and Blood?

We then explored the deeper digestive centre, particularly the stomach, duodenum, pancreas and spleen, through diagonal connections with the legs.

The most challenging question for me was:

How do we feel something that is so deep inside the body?

We cannot simply look at or consciously move these areas. We have to listen through sensation, weight, breath and the movement of the whole body.

For me, Soil Energy is not only about grounding. It is also about going deeper, sensing what is less visible, less familiar and harder to move, and noticing how a small movement on the surface might create a change deeper inside.

KiTaRi Soil Energy Series Bodywork 08

From understanding the crease of the hip joint, we explored its mobility and how we can apply this awareness to our daily movement through swinging, stepping, travelling, and even dancing.

It is truly a step-by-step process.

From my TaiChi coach, I also learned about the seven “窝” (wō), or body hollows, from the perspective of Tai Chi; areas that can support the movement and circulation of Qi. The hip joint is one of these important areas.

The best way to explore it is not to force the movement, but to relax and release tension and restrictions around the hip joint and femur, allowing more space and mobility.

With the support of Netter’s Anatomy, we also looked more closely at the pancreas and its endocrine and exocrine functions. We explored how hormones such as insulin and glucagon are involved in regulating blood glucose levels.

Visualization → Somatization → Embodiment

This is the process I have been learning through Body-Mind Centering® (BMC).

First, we visualize and imagine.

Then, we somatize; sensing, experiencing and exploring the kinaesthetic through our own body.

And gradually, we move towards embodiment, where the knowledge becomes something we can feel, being and apply in our everyday movement. For me, this is what KiTaRi is about: not simply learning about the body, but slowly learning through the body.

Step by step, the body teaches us.

KiTaRi Soil Energy Series Bodywork 07

After our long break, we came back by revisiting the exercises from our previous sessions, focusing on the meridian of stomach, spleen and triple heater. Through these exercises, we gradually brought our attention back into the body and prepared ourselves for the next exploration.

From there, we moved our focus towards the crease of the thigh and the hip bone, which is the main focus of this Soil Energy series. Through different poses and exercises, we explored the relationship between the socket and the bone, noticing how they can move and counter-move with each other.

From the hip, we then travelled deeper into the centre of the body through the embryology of the pancreas, the third organ in this series. Located deep in the middle of our body, the pancreas brought our attention to how we support and hold our centre.

☯️ Yin–Yang Front & Back Body · Private Group 03

In our last session, we explored how to integrate the front and back body into our everyday lives.

It is important to remember that these two layers were already supporting and nurturing us when we were still in the embryonic stage of development. They have been with us from the very beginning.

Throughout our lives, our front and back bodies have also experienced and carried traces of what we have been through; our movements, experiences, tensions and ways of adapting.

Coming back to these two layers gives us an opportunity to reconnect with ourselves, to listen to what the body is holding, and to rediscover the support that is already within us.

And I’m also so happy for this lovely and cheerful group and all the little treats on our last day together. It was such a lovely way to end our time together.

KiTaRi Soil Energy Series Bodywork 06

After the pairing support, we continued exploring flexibility through forward bending, using the wall as a support. With the support of the wall, we explored the sensation of pushing through the feet, feeling the creases of the hip joints, and creating length of Stomach and Spleen meridian..

From there, we explored different floor-based exercises and dance movements to build strength and awareness around the areas connected to our practice.

We then turned our attention to the spleen.

From an anatomical perspective, the spleen is an important organ of the immune and lymphatic systems. It is the largest secondary lymphoid organ in the body and plays an important role in filtering the blood, removing old or damaged blood cells, and helping the immune system identify and respond to pathogens circulating in the bloodstream.

This understanding will support our upcoming sessions as we explore the grounding of the left back body and the idea of counter-support around the pancreas. Through movement, touch and awareness, we will continue to investigate how these areas may contribute to our experience of grounding, stability and internal connection.

From grounding through the feet
to lengthening through the meridian
from strength to support
from anatomy to embodied awareness.

🌱 KiTaRi Soil Energy Series Bodywork 05

In this session, we revisited some of the key notes from the three meridians we have been exploring. We also looked at the countermovement between the pelvis and femur, using rotation to explore more flexibility and length in the muscles, rather than simply forcing ourselves to reach whether in a forward bend, split, or other movements.

Working in pairs gave us a chance to feel the movement in our own bodies, while also observing and understanding how rotation happens through the pelvis and femur.

We then looked deeper into the direction of the stomach and duodenum, exploring how these pathways can support our understanding of diagonal directions in the body.

We also had two very special guests today-the children of one of our participants. One of the sweetest moments was seeing her little girl naturally following her mother’s movements, while her brother was busy drawing the exercises we were doing.

For me, this is also part of the Macrobio-Somatic practice that embodied learning doesn’t always need to be explained. Sometimes we learn simply by watching, sensing, playing and being together.

🌱 KiTaRi Soil Energy Series — Bodywork 03

In this session, we completed our exploration of the three key meridians in the Soil Energy Series:

🔥 Triple Heater Meridian (三焦经)
The body’s energy coordinator, supporting circulation, metabolism, and the connection between different systems.

🌿 Spleen Meridian (脾经)
supports Blood regulation (统血), digestion, and the strength of muscles and limbs.

🌾 Stomach Meridian (胃经)
a meridian rich in Qi and Blood (多气多血), supporting nourishment, energy, and digestive health.

Through mindful stretching, self-massage, and movement exploration, we learned to experience these meridians not as separate pathways, but as an interconnected system supporting our overall balance and wellbeing. 🌿

In the Fire Energy series, we often explore the relationship between the heart and the brain.

Why do we say “speak from the heart”?

One participant shared:

“I think this time I could feel it better than before. When there was a connection, I felt joy. But when the connection disappeared, it felt very sudden, like the connection between the brain and the heart was cut.”

This reflection touched me deeply.

Perhaps joy is not something we need to chase. Perhaps it naturally arises when the heart and brain are connected, when our thoughts, feelings, and actions are moving in the same direction.

Sometimes we only notice the importance of this connection when it is no longer there.

❤️ What does it feel like for you when your heart and brain are in conversation?
