Every year, unused leave turns into a December rush. Suddenly half the team is away during year-end closing, and the other half is covering.
Two small things that help:
✅ Share leave balances with staff this month, not in December
✅ Agree key coverage dates for year-end early, before the applications flood in

🇲🇾 Malaysia’s Minimum Wage Set to Increase to RM2,000 in June 2027!

The government has announced plans to raise the monthly minimum wage from RM1,700 to RM2,000, alongside the introduction of a new e-Wages system to strengthen wage monitoring and compliance.

📌 Key Highlights:
✅ RM2,000 Minimum Wage – Proposed to take effect in June 2027.
✅ e-Wages System – A live dashboard to monitor employer compliance and ensure timely salary payments.
✅ MSME Exemption – Businesses with annual sales below RM50 million will be exempted initially.
✅ RM2,500 Starting Salary Framework – Proposed benchmarks for graduates and semi-skilled workers based on qualifications and skills.
✅ Over 4 Million Workers – Expected to benefit from the wage increase.

The government also plans to introduce updated salary guidelines under the Malaysia Standard Classification of Occupations (MASCO).

💼 What Does This Mean for Employers?
Businesses should start reviewing their salary structures, payroll systems and workforce budgets to prepare for the proposed changes.

🌫️ HAZE AT WORK: WHAT SHOULD EMPLOYERS DO?

As air quality deteriorates, employers have a responsibility to protect their employees from haze-related health and safety risks.

DOSH Malaysia’s 2026 Guidelines for Protecting Employees Against Haze at Workplaces (2nd Edition) outline recommended workplace precautions based on the Air Pollutant Index (API/IPU).

From preparing a haze response plan to restricting outdoor activities and implementing stop-work measures, employers need to know when and how to respond.

⚠️ Important: A high API reading does not automatically mean every workplace must close. Decisions should be based on workplace risks, employee vulnerability and the effectiveness of protective measures.

A: "Everyone here seems to know more than me."
B: "I'll say later let them say first…" (someone else says it first)
C: "If I ask this, they'll think I don't know anything."
D: "Better don’t say too much in case I sound nervous."
E: "I had the perfect answer… 10 minutes after the meeting ended."
