The Kano State Primary Healthcare Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board today held a strategic engagement at the Kano Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to review the proposed Polio, Immunization and Nutrition (PIN) Integrated Service Delivery Initiative, under the Solina Centre for International Development and Research (SCIDaR). Chaired by the Director-General of KSPHCMB, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, the meeting brought together relevant programme leadership to review the proposed approach, which is designed to identify and reach zero-dose, under-immunized and missed children, generate demand for services, and link eligible children and caregivers to routine immunization, polio and nutrition services, with follow-up through completion.

The engagement focused on aligning the proposed integrated service delivery model and agreeing on the Kano implementation scope, including priority LGAs, wards, settlements and service-delivery arrangements. Participants also assessed implementation readiness and identified critical resource gaps across human resources, commodities, community mobilization, data and reporting tools, logistics and supervision, with emphasis on ensuring that children who are missed or inadequately reached by essential services can be identified, served and followed up effectively.

The meeting further deliberated on governance, programme roles and responsibilities, focal persons, coordination mechanisms, action owners and timelines as part of the immediate next steps towards coordinated implementation. The engagement is expected to strengthen alignment between KSPHCMB and relevant programme partners and provide a practical framework for delivering integrated polio, immunization and nutrition services to priority communities across Kano State.

The Kano State Primary Healthcare Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board, in collaboration with Datharm, on Wednesday, 23rd September 2026, convened a dissemination meeting to review the endline assessment findings of MCHTrack, a digital community engagement platform for routine immunization developed by Datharm with support from the Gates Foundation. KSPHCMB STRENGTHENS COMMUNITY HEALTH DATA SYSTEMS, CONCLUDES CBHW PERFORMANCE REVIEW

The Kano State Primary Healthcare Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board, with support from the UK FCDO Lafiya Programme, has concluded a two-day Community-Based Health Workers (CBHW) Performance Review and LGA Focal Persons’ Orientation on Electronic Data Collection and Reporting, held from 19th to 20th September 2026 at Quarter House Hotel, Kaduna. The engagement brought together relevant stakeholders to assess CBHW performance, identify implementation gaps and strengthen electronic systems for timely, accurate and reliable community-level health data.

Declaring the engagement open, the Director-General of KSPHCMB, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, stressed the need for continuous performance monitoring, accurate reporting and effective use of data to strengthen primary healthcare delivery. He noted that reliable and timely data provides health managers with the evidence required to identify service delivery gaps, track progress and make informed decisions, urging participants to translate the knowledge gained into improved reporting and stronger performance at the LGA and community levels.

The two-day engagement strengthened the capacity of LGA focal persons on electronic data collection and reporting while providing an opportunity to review CBHW programme performance and agree on areas requiring improvement. The initiative is expected to enhance the quality, timeliness and reliability of community health data and promote greater use of evidence in planning, monitoring and decision-making, further strengthening KSPHCMB’s efforts to deliver more responsive, effective and accountable primary healthcare services across Kano State. Why I prefer this headline:
“KSPHCMB Strengthens Community Health Data Systems, Concludes CBHW Performance Review” gives us two strong news angles—the system improvement and the completed review. It also puts KSPHCMB firmly in front, avoids an unnecessarily long headline, and sounds like a proper government health-sector news release rather than a workshop report.
