Matching stripes on a collar. The trickiest part is to get the angle you want the stripes to match. It helps me to draw the lines on to the pattern piece so I can visualise how it will look.
Before sewing the collar you fold the seamallowance to check the stripe matching, then use a lot of pins. Sew over the pins...SLOWLY...and at the exact spot where your pin is inserted. Thats where the stripes meet.

This is my preferred way of doing this. What's yours?

Don't throw away your fabric scraps! Make a new scrap sweater with it!
I am a hoarder when it comes to scraps. When you keep your scraps in see through bags, automatically new combinations occur. In this case some sequins, leather and even teddy fleece made it into this scrappy sweater. What a way to get your scrap-busting mode on!

Some sewing tips:
Make sure the fabrics are somewhat similar in weight. If not, just add another layer to the scrap and process them together.
Don't worry about the grainline or stretch direction. It is negligible when working with smaller pieces.
