Building Local Capacity. Creating Sustainable Healthcare Education.
Last week, MeduProf-S officially started its franchise cooperation with Nobo College in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
We started where sustainable healthcare education should start: with the teachers. Ten Radiology teachers and two Pharmacy teachers completed an intensive Teach the Teacher programme, preparing them to deliver high-quality, practice-oriented Continuing Professional Development courses.
Throughout the programme, the nine competencies required for effective adult education formed the common thread.
The training covered:
• Principles of Adult Learning
• Problem-Based Learning and Case-Based Learning
• SMART instructional design
• Effective presentation skills
• Core curriculum development
• Practical clinical training through DOPS
• Skills-lab assessment through OSPE
• Practical examination scorecards
• Constructive feedback
• Professional and social behaviour
But this was not a traditional classroom course. Around 80% of the programme was case-based and activity-based, using individual assignments, group work, discussions, presentations and practical exercises. The teachers experienced exactly the type of active learning methodology they will now use with their own students. The evaluations were very encouraging, with participants particularly valuing the interactive approach, practical activities, active participation and exchange of experiences.
More than a training course
This programme is the first step in building a sustainable MeduProf-S Medical Imaging training centre at Nobo College.
The cooperation is designed to combine local teaching capacity with international professional standards, curriculum support, teacher development, quality assurance and MeduProf-S certification. On 23/24 of Februari 24 we conducted our first East-African MRI training for Radiologists in Tanzania. The 13 East Africa top radiologists were on board for a high level MRI training with Dr. Gulati, a well known MRI radiologist in India. Investing in knowledge to improve the diagnostic capacity of East Africa was the goal of Radiologists from Uganda and Tanzania. A successful start of private Continuous Professional Development courses all over East Africa for Health Care professionals. Helpen in ontwikkelingslanden en tegelijk rendement genereren?

MeduProf-S B.V. heeft inmiddels meer dan 20 jaar ervaring in medisch onderwijs in ontwikkelingslanden. Daarmee hebben we echt verschil kunnen maken. Met het praktisch trainen van medisch personeel hebben we werkelijk al duizenden levens gered. Om als voorbeeld onze echografiecursussen maar eens te noemen. We hebben meer dan 1600 echografisten getraind, die gemiddeld 8 levens redden per week door simpele behandelbare diagnoses te stellen. We trainen verpleegkundigen op kraamafdelingen hoe ze door eenvoudige veranderingen aan te brengen in hun handelwijze vele baby’s kunnen redden. Een opleiding voor ziekenhuis technici door ons gestart in Uganda verspreid hands-on kennis over heel Oost Afrika, waardoor ziekenhuizen echt het verschil kunnen maken, door onderhouden en werkende apparatuur.

MeduProf-S staat aan het begin van een periode van groei en heeft voor de herfinanciering van bestaande leningen, het uitbreiden van de marketing- en salesactiviteiten, het ontwikkelen en introduceren van nieuwe producten en het nastreven van potentiële opdrachten behoefte aan werkkapitaal. Daarom ben ik gaan zoeken naar een manier om het benodigde werkkapitaal op korte termijn op pijl te brengen, zodat we verder kunnen met het aanboren van nieuwe kansen op het gebied van de verbetering van de gezondheidszorg elders in de wereld.

Since 1996 we are active in training healthcare collegues worldwide in Developing Countries and Countries in Transition. We have more than 200 experts already in our database to carry out one or two-week training programs worldwide. We are not working with volunteers but mainly with paid professionals who are accountable for what they train or teach. Our programs are often delivered as independent subcontractor combined in projects with equipment delivery, hospital renewal or hospital construction.

For instance, a company builds a hospital and all the staff has to be upgraded to the new situation, new working methods or practical trained in a certain discipline. We will do an assessment and take care of the training of all the staff from manager, nurse, technician to cleaner. The result us a smooth high quality performing healthcare facility.
