Women and girls carry a disproportionate share of the HIV burden in sub-Saharan Africa. However, the African Workshop on Women & HIV is the only workshop in the region dedicated to them.

Back by popular demand, the 4th edition gathers researchers, clinicians, policymakers and community voices in the same room!

Why Lusaka? Despite its high burden, Zambia has built a strong HIV response, surpassing the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets. This success highlights the orchestrated efforts by government, the healthcare sector, and civil society in curbing the epidemic.

Over two days, we explored global updates, the impact of funding cuts, preventing new pediatric HIV infections, maternal health, advances in pediatric and adolescent care, and comorbidities. We also heard clinical case presentations, a youth panel on sexual and reproductive health, and a lively debate on whether lenacapavir PrEP could end the pediatric HIV epidemic.

AI meets HIV care. Join us on 7-8 December 2026!

The Artificial Intelligence in Infectious Diseases Workshop is a virtual event aiming to connect clinicians, researchers, and AI experts to discuss how AI can be implemented responsibly and equitably across the infectious disease care and service delivery.

This year’s workshop will focus on the application of AI in HIV care, exploring opportunities and challenges in areas such as prevention, diagnosis, treatment, patient engagement, and health service delivery.

🔹 Findings from the HIV and Aging Lancet Commission — Amy Caroline Justice (Yale University) and Keri Althoff (Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health)
🔹 WHO iCOPE & the 5 M's in Geriatrics — Mary Clare Masters (Albert Einstein College of Medicine)

This session provides a concrete framework, grounded in WHO iCOPE and the 5 M's, for applying the Lancet Commission's findings directly in your practice.

Join us for two days covering the HIV reservoir and aging, trauma and cognitive health, premature aging in long-term survivors, and long-term care for people aging with HIV.
