We knew Ørjan’s cholesterol was high, and when he saw a cardiologist, the recommendation was to start high-dose statins — especially because his ApoB was elevated, which is associated with increased cardiovascular risk.
As people who love to experiment with lifestyle and try to use medication only when it’s really needed, we got very curious about one thing:
How much could we actually change with food alone?
The cardiologist told us that statins could potentially cut his numbers roughly in half and that treatment might be long term. When Ørjan asked whether he could achieve anything close to that through diet and lifestyle changes, the answer was basically: no.
So of course… challenge accepted. 😅
He made some very intentional changes to his diet, stuck with them, and then retested.
ApoB: 1.43 → 0.71 g/L
LDL-C: 5.6 → 2.6 mmol/L
No weight loss.
No statins.
No red yeast rice.
Just targeted changes in what he ate.
So… did he just do the “impossible”? 😉
