Building the next generation of public health researchers begins with the right guidance.

Nepal Public Health Research and Training Centre, a sister institution of the Nepal Public Health Foundation, is creating opportunities for aspiring researchers to learn from experienced global health experts and strengthen their research proposal development skills.

The first cohort benefited from the expertise of Professor Arjune Sen, Professor of Global Epilepsy and Head of the Centre for Global Epilepsy at the University of Oxford.

Continuing this initiative, Dr Fernando Rubinstein, Senior Researcher at the Institute for Clinical and Health Effectiveness and Adjunct Professor of Public Health at the University of Buenos Aires, led a session for the second cohort.

Drawing on their years of research experience, our experts shared practical guidance, valuable lessons, and mentorship to help participants develop clear, feasible, and meaningful research proposals.

And the learning continues!

The upcoming cohort will feature Professor Jane Hirst, Visiting Professor in Global Women’s Health at the University of Oxford and Chair of Global Women’s Health at Imperial College London.

Through these expert-led sessions, NPHRTC is investing in the next generation of public health researchers—equipping them with the skills, confidence, and guidance to transform research ideas into meaningful evidence that informs policy and contributes to better health outcomes.

Additional Proposal Development Session for NPHRTC Alumni

Nepal Public Health Research and Training Centre (NPHRTC), a sister institution of the Nepal Public Health Foundation (NPHF), conducted an additional Proposal Development Session for the alumni of our 1st and 2nd cohorts.

The session was facilitated by Dr Fernando Rubinstein, Senior Researcher and Board Member at the Institute for Clinical Effectiveness and Health Policy (IECS), Buenos Aires, and Professor of Public Health at the University of Buenos Aires.

Dr Rubinstein used a real-world successful research proposal on improving adherence to tuberculosis treatment as a practical example, allowing participants to explore how a research idea can be developed into a strong and fundable proposal.

The session received great appreciation from our alumni, who actively engaged in the discussion and gained practical insights into proposal development, research design, and strengthening research ideas.

We are grateful to Dr Rubinstein for sharing his expertise and supporting the continued learning and research capacity development of our alumni!
