Happy World Pharmacist Day! 💙💊

You may or may not have seen that our pharmacy was named Pharmacy of the Year for 2025 last year - a huge part that played in getting that award was due to our outstanding Pharmacists. 

This World Pharmacists Day, we’re proud to embrace the theme “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures.”

At Unichem Pakuranga, our pharmacists provide more than dispensing your medication. From all-of-life vaccinations and minor ailment consultations to health checks and sleep consultations, we’re committed to being your health hub and making healthcare more accessible in our community. 

Thank you to all our Pharmacists at Unichem Pakuranga and throughout the world - who provide eduction, care and support to each patient (From the marketing girl who is not a Pharmacist and see how hard they all work!)

Our most important message from our Pharmacy to every patient is that you’re more than a prescription or a health condition.

This past weekend, our Unichem Pakuranga team joined Greencross at the Auckland Greenlane Baby Show, offering whole-of-life immunisation to attendees. We’re grateful for the chance to be there — and for what it taught us.

We were struck by how many pregnant people, some over 30 weeks along, made time to be immunised alongside partners and whānau. Meeting people where they already were, rather than asking for another appointment, clearly mattered.

Not every conversation ended in a vaccination, and that’s okay. One couple declined the flu vaccine, tied to a difficult past experience — our job there was simply to listen, without rushing them. Another family had almost turned away from vaccination elsewhere the week before, unsure what was actually in the whooping cough vaccine, until a short explainer helped answer their questions.

Moments like these are a good reminder: clear, patient explanation matters as much as availability.

Thank you Greencross for the partnership, and to every whānau who trusted us with their questions and their arms.

As we celebrate Matariki, we take time to reflect on the year that has been, honour those who have gone before us, and embrace the opportunities a new year brings. 🌌✨

At our pharmacy, we’re incredibly grateful to be part of such a caring and supportive community. Thank you for trusting us to be part of your health journey—it is a privilege to care for you and your whānau each day.

May is National Blood Pressure Awareness Month, and our team has been out in the community offering blood pressure checks at our vaccination clinics.

High blood pressure often goes unnoticed because there may be no obvious symptoms. Regular checks can help with early intervention, reduce the risk of serious health emergencies, and monitor how well treatment is working if you’ve already been diagnosed.

We offer blood pressure checks for just $5 at the pharmacy, along with advice and guidance on the next steps if your reading is high.

If you’ve been putting it off, now’s the time to get your blood pressure checked — it’s so important to know your numbers ❤️

We feel so lucky to have been welcomed with open arms by so many amazing community groups already this year. We’re also really grateful for the opportunity to share and educate people about flu vaccinations—and we’ve had such a great time connecting and engaging with everyone along the way.

We are on a roll! Another flu vaccination clinic done and dusted with Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust - making sure their senior members are protected for the upcoming winter season.

It was a day celebrating the Sikh Festival Vaisakhi 💙filled with a talent show, some yummy food, sweet treats and great conversations!

We had the lovely Ronan come in the other week for a shift to help us with cleaning up the pharmacy.

Ronan is currently fundraising for his trip to the World Skate Games Championship in Paraguay in October this year to represent New Zealand and is putting in the work on and off the skate track!
