Over $45,000 raised in a day! ⛳❤️

A massive thank you to the team at Vero for hosting their inaugural Vero Masters Golf Day, part of Suncorp New Zealand’s ongoing Spirit to Cure initiative supporting Blood Cancer NZ and Cancer Research Trust NZ.

Despite Auckland’s rainy weather yesterday, spirits were high, and generosity shone through. With signed sports memorabilia, spot prizes and plenty of support on and off the course, the day raised more than $45,000!

Support like this helps us continue funding patient support, blood cancer research and awareness, making a difference for people affected by blood cancer and their whānau.

Thank you to Suncorp, Vero and everyone who played, donated or helped make the day happen. We’re so grateful for your continued support!

Belonging matters. Especially when life feels uncertain. ❤️

Blood cancer can take a toll on your mental wellbeing. Waiting for results, coping with treatment and adjusting to changes in everyday life can bring worry, loneliness and overwhelm, including after treatment ends. Whānau and carers can feel that weight too.

As Mental Health Awareness Week draws to a close, its theme, Belonging Matters, is a reminder to keep helping each other feel seen, heard and included, this week and beyond.

Sometimes, support starts with a message that doesn’t need a reply. Someone listening without trying to fix things. Or being included, even when you don’t have the energy to join in.

You don’t have to put on a brave face. Your mental wellbeing matters, and you deserve support at every stage.

If you’d like someone to talk to, our Support Services team is here on 0800 15 10 15.

Help Mark turn his experience into change!

Dunedin man Mark Baxter lived with unexplained symptoms for around three years before being diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma, a rare blood cancer. Without a local public dermatology service for his GP to refer him to, getting answers was a difficult journey.

Now, Mark is calling for permanent, in-person public dermatology services in Dunedin and the wider Southern region, so others can access the specialist care they need.

His story highlights why recognising symptoms and having access to timely specialist assessment both matter.

Please consider signing Mark’s petition and sharing it with your community to help his call reach more people.

Big congrats to Amelia, the winner of our Shave for a Cure giveaway! 🧡

Earlier this month, Amelia bravely shaved her head for Blood Cancer NZ's Shave for a Cure, raising over $1,000 for Kiwis affected by blood cancer. She is now taking home a $125 bundle from Two Dudes, full of skincare products that aren't just for the dudes!

Thanks to everyone who sent in their photos and got involved. Every entry helped spread the word.

Days after returning from a trip to Samoa, Mel reached behind her back and felt a sudden pain, thinking she'd pulled a muscle. It was myeloma.

With her husband Michael and their children by her side, and support from Annette and Natasha from Blood Cancer NZ, she faced a stem cell transplant, weeks of gruelling nausea, and a retirement very different from the one she’d imagined.

"I just take one day at a time. I want to get on with my life and be really strong through all of this," says Mel.
