Fantastic representation from the ARO team at the NZSMIRT Hybrid Intelligence Conference in Auckland.

It was great to see Merridee Sargent, Aish Bhatia and Latisha Law sharing their expertise and the work we’re doing at ARO across stereotactic radiation therapy, pacemaker pathways and CyberKnife.

A particular congratulations to Aish, who took home both the First Presenter Award and People’s Choice Award - a fantastic recognition of the quality and impact of her work. 👏

We’re proud of our team for contributing to the radiation therapy community, sharing knowledge and continuing to advance the delivery of exceptional cancer care.
Ka rawe, team! 👏

A future free from cervical cancer is within reach.

This Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month, Auckland Radiation Oncology is proud to support the many clinicians, researchers, advocates, and organisations working to improve the prevention, early detection, treatment, and outcomes of gynaecological cancers across New Zealand.

We're also getting behind the collective effort to eliminate cervical cancer in New Zealand, a World Health Organization target that is within our reach through HPV vaccination, cervical screening, equitable access to treatment.

ARO is proud to support the Cancer Society's strategic focus to accelerate New Zealand’s progress towards elimination of cervical cancer and the shared commitment to ensure fewer New Zealanders experience a cancer that is preventable.

This month, we encourage everyone to learn more, have conversations, and support the initiatives helping create a future where cervical cancer is eliminated and all women have access to timely immunisation, diagnosis and treatment.

Five treatments. Back to life.

That's how ARO patient, Warren, describes his prostate cancer treatment with CyberKnife at ARO.

After four years of regular PSA testing, Warren's levels started to climb - prompting his specialist to recommend radiation therapy. Referred to ARO, he discovered CyberKnife: a state-of-the-art, short, non-invasive robotic radiation treatment that meant just 5 sessions, compared to the 20–30 many of his mates had gone through with conventional radiation treatment.

In New Zealand, CyberKnife is only available at ARO. Warren shares how seamless the whole experience was, from the technology to the team who looked after him.

"You think you're going to get a big knife, but this big machine just buzzes around you and does its thing," says Warren.

A huge thank you to our team members who collected for Daffodil Day on Friday, and to everyone who showed their support by donating, joining our colouring competition and wearing a daffodil 💛

We are proud to support our partners at Cancer Society Auckland and Northland, who do an amazing job providing support to Kiwis affected by cancer!

One of the most important services they provide is Domain Lodge, an accommodation facility in Auckland that provides a home away from home for patients who have travelled to attend appointments or receive treatment. This invaluable support helps ease the burden on families during what can often be a challenging and emotional journey. In many cases, it enables patients from patients outside of Auckland to access treatment services at ARO

If you missed the chance to donate this Daffodil Day, you can still do so here: https://www.cancer.org.nz/you-can-be-there-for-someone-every-month/

This month we celebrated ONE YEAR of ARO on the North Shore 🎉

A year ago, we welcomed our first patients through the doors of a facility. Since then, ARO North Shore has helped provide timely, accessible radiation therapy closer to home, supporting patients and their whānau through some of life's most challenging moments.

This milestone reflects the dedication and teamwork across ARO, from our reception and scheduling teams to nurses, radiation therapists, oncologists, physicists. Thank you for the care, expertise, and compassion you bring every day. Here's to an incredible first year and the many lives touched along the way 💙
