What happens to a disc during spinal decompression?

Spinal decompression uses gentle, controlled traction in the Y-Axis to temporarily reduce pressure through a targeted area of the spine.
As the vertebrae are gradually separated, pressure within the disc can decrease. This change in pressure may help encourage the movement of fluid and nutrients within the disc, while reducing mechanical load on surrounding structures. It can also help break up scar tissue and adhesions that have formed because of chronic loading on the area.

Rather than one continuous stretch, decompression uses repeated cycles of distraction and relaxation, creating changes in pressure within the disc.

✨SHE’S BACK! ✨

As many of you know, Dr Sheridan was involved in an accident in December 2025 and has not been in practice.

We are delighted to let you know that she returning to practice on a light basis.

She’ll initially be seeing women and children requiring gentle, low-force care on:
🍃 Monday mornings
🍃Wednesday afternoons

Her return will be gradual as she continues to rebuild her strength and capacity, and she’s looking forward to reconnecting with patients and families once again.

Appointments will be limited during this initial return-to-practice period, so if you’ve been waiting to reconnect with Dr. Sheri, we encourage you to book ahead.

And finally, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported Dr. Sheri throughout her recovery. Your kindness, encouragement and patience have meant so much to all of us. 🫶🏻

Dr Sheridan is now accepting appointments on Monday mornings & Wednesday afternoons for women and children requiring lower-force care. Her return will be gradual as she continues to build her strength and capacity, and she is looking forward to reconnecting with and caring for patients once again.

Introducing the spinal decompression table to the practice has really been worthwhile and we are already helping many people in the community.
