Carpentry gone wrong?
Or medicine for the tree?
π
Helping our trees become more resilient
π³
Inoculating this beautiful peachcot tree with trichoderma spp. fungi to boost it's defences.
(The spores are in that wee green dowel)
Here, I'm combating silverleaf and gummosis in some inherited old fruit trees.
This is the second round of yearly inoculation, alongside some probiotic spraying and also improving the soil beneath with various plant species and manure.
Things are definitely on the upward trend πͺπ½
Our soil is crappy, compacted fill that was covered in plastic and woochip and probably nuked with pesticides (aka nothing was growing except the trees).
So, whilst we can do bandaid solutions to treat above ground symptoms, I would say much of the cause lies below and in the overall health of the tree.
Hence the use of clovers, daikon, lupin, parsley, vetch, oats, etc., to try bring some life and air back into a butchered piece of the ecosystem.
Grow you good things, grow!
