A little behind the scenes at Hydrate… boxes everywhere and me counting them for the third time 😂📦

Today is World Standards Day, so we’re breaking down some of those little NSF/ANSI numbers you might have seen on water filtration products and what they actually mean.

They’re not ratings, and a bigger number doesn’t mean a “better” filter. They’re different standards covering different areas of drinking-water treatment, from aesthetic effects like chlorine, taste and odour, to health-related contaminant reduction, reverse osmosis systems and the safety of materials that come into contact with your water.

When it comes to water filtration, we think you should be able to look beyond the marketing and see the receipts. 💧

You spend $$$ getting your hair colour just right… but have you ever thought about the water you’re washing it in after? 👀🚿

Chlorine isn’t just a swimming pool thing. Residual chlorine is also found in tap water, it’s there to disinfect our water and keep it safe to drink.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean our hair loves it.

Research has shown that chlorine can contribute to colour fading in dyed hair, with repeated exposure increasing the loss of colour.

Chlorine exposure has also been linked with changes to the hair’s protective structure and natural lipids, which can contribute to hair feeling drier, rougher and more brittle.
