I taatai ai te puhi ariki,
Te Hiringa matua,
Te Hiringa tipua,
Te Hiringa tawhito-o-rangi

And blessed upon this young person,
Is the power to parent,
A magical power, An inherited power

(Te Oriori o Tuuteremoana) We aim to improve health for Māmā, Pēpi, and Whānau affected by Mental Health and Addictions. Our work is based on Mahi a Atua, which teaches Te Ao Māori perspectives in all our thoughts and wānanga processes.

Whānau Voice:

Learning to unlearn old habits has been a challenge for me. I’ve always been a bit rogue when it comes to finding the easiest way to do things 😂, and sometimes I’ve had to learn the hard way.
But I’m realising that when I turn my listening ears on, stay open-minded, and allow myself to learn new techniques, styles and teachings, I’m able to add even more knowledge to my kete. 🥰
There’s always something new to learn, and there’s strength in being open to it. ❤️ I’ve enjoyed this journey so far and I’m excited to attempt my first taniko 🥰

Neurographic art is a mindful drawing practice that helps calm the mind by turning thoughts and emotions into flowing lines and shapes.

As we draw, connect and colour, we slow down, release tension and create space to breathe, helping us feel more grounded, present and at peace.

Today we were grateful to spend our paku wānanga outside, under the sun, walking Kaiti Hill. Even more grateful to provide a safe wahi to ask the question 'How are you, REALLY?'

Thank you for sharing space with me Paratai Tuhakaraina and Zealot Familist

TE IHO TĀTAI Ā RONGO🍃

Join us for a kaupapa Māori wānanga exploring Te Iho Tātai ā Rongo - FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder). FASD describes the effects of alcohol exposure during pregnancy on the brain, body and it can also impact individuals across their lifetime.

Te Iho speaks to the essence and heart of the child. Tātai reflects connection, genealogy, and the relationships that shape us. Ā Rongo draws on the atua of peace, reminding us that wellbeing is nurtured through calmness, care, and safe, supportive environments.

This wānanga is grounded through a blend of brain-based education and mātauranga Māori centered around understanding the wellbeing of our tamariki. Together we will explore Pūrakau (some content may require adult supervision as it explores the creation of humans) and tākaro to deepen our knowledge around FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder)

Whānau, caregivers and kaimahi are welcome to learn, reflect and grow.🌱
