GLP-1s aren’t “cheating”.

If someone has struggled with their weight for years and a GLP-1 helps them finally lose weight and improve their health, then the medication is doing exactly what it was designed to do.

The issue isn’t using the tool.

The issue is using the tool without changing anything else.

Because regardless of how you achieve the initial weight loss, you still need to learn how to eat in a way that supports your body, prioritise protein, maintain muscle, strength train, move regularly and build habits you can actually sustain.

A GLP-1 can help reduce appetite and make a calorie deficit easier to achieve.

But it can’t teach you how to structure your nutrition.
It can’t build muscle for you.
It can’t improve your food choices.
And it can’t create the habits you’ll need long term.

This is why we don’t look at GLP-1s as “good” or “bad”.

They’re a tool.

And if you’re going to use that tool, use it alongside the nutrition, training and lifestyle habits that are going to support your health and results long after the weight comes off.

The goal shouldn’t just be to weigh less.

The goal should be to come out the other side healthier, stronger and with a much better understanding of how to look after your body.

What are your thoughts? đź’

This is 779 calories worth of food ⬇️

Now put that into perspective…

For a lot of people, their daily calorie deficit might only be somewhere around 200–500 calories.

So something like this can very quickly wipe out the deficit you’ve created and potentially put you back at maintenance or above.

This is where people get confused.

“My meals are good.”
“I’m hitting my steps.”
“I’m training.”
“I’m in a deficit.”
“So why am I not losing?”

But it’s often the little extras that aren’t being accounted for.

A few chips.
Some dip.
A couple of lollies.
A piece of cake.
A snack here and there.

None of these foods are “bad” and you don’t need to cut them out to lose body fat.

But they still contain calories.

And when your deficit isn’t that large to begin with, it doesn’t take much to close that gap.

Before you decide you need to eat less, add more cardio or push your steps higher, make sure you’re actually being consistent with the deficit you’ve already created.

You don’t always need a bigger deficit. You might just need to be more accurate with the one you have.
