Our Peanut Slab Slice 🥜

An incredibly moreish recipe from our Feel Good Formula meal plan.

Chewy dates, lightly toasted peanuts, coconut and cocoa, finished with a generous layer of dark chocolate. Think homemade wholefood peanut slab!

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝗹𝗮𝗯 𝗦𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 🥜

𝗜𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

- 2 cups pitted dates
- 1 cup raw peanuts, lightly toasted
- ½ cup unsweetened shredded coconut
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 200g dark chocolate, chopped

𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

1. Line a square baking tin with baking paper.
2. Lightly toast the peanuts in a dry pan or in the oven until golden and fragrant.
3. Add the peanuts, dates, coconut and cocoa powder to a food processor.
4. Pulse until the mixture comes together into a thick, sticky consistency, with little pieces of peanut remaining for crunch.
5. Transfer to your prepared tin and press firmly into an even layer.
6. Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of gently simmering water, stirring until smooth.
7. Pour over the date mixture and spread evenly.
8. Refrigerate for 1–2 hours, or until the chocolate has completely set.
9. Slice into squares and keep refrigerated. Enjoy!

Kiwifruit contains serotonin, antioxidants and folate, alongside fibre and other plant compounds that may contribute to its potential sleep benefits.

In a small study of adults with sleep difficulties, eating two kiwifruit one hour before bed for four weeks was associated with a 35.4% reduction in the time taken to fall asleep and a 13.4% increase in total sleep time.

We’ve seen this firsthand in clinical practice - try it tonight and let us know how you get on in the comments! 🥝

So much is happening inside our gut that we can’t see or feel directly.

Akkermansia muciniphila is one little gut bacterium we’ve been seeing come up low in our Complete Microbiome Map (CMM) testing lately. And the science behind it is fascinating!

Unlike many gut bacteria that use dietary fibre as their fuel, Akkermansia feeds on mucin, a key component of our gut’s protective mucus layer.

As Akkermansia breaks down mucin, it produces compounds that other gut bacteria can use. Essentially, one microbe is helping feed another (cool huh!)

Akkermansia has also been linked to the health of our gut lining - which is vital for nutrient absorption and maintaining the protective barrier between our gut and bloodstream. When this barrier becomes compromised (often referred to as “leaky gut”), it may contribute to inflammation and altered immune responses, with implications for conditions such as allergies and certain food sensitivities.

Akkermansia also plays a role in our metabolic health, including how effectively our bodies respond to insulin and regulate blood sugar.

When we’re investigating digestive symptoms or concerns around weight management, we’re not just looking at the symptoms. We’re looking at why they might be happening.

Our Complete Microbiome Map (CMM) gives us an in-depth look at the gut ecosystem, including beneficial bacteria, potentially harmful microbes, parasites and other markers of gut health.

I’ve had 3 babies, and not once was I told to continue taking my supplementation beyond birth.

But birth is not the end of the increased nutrient demand, and for many women it’s actually the beginning of another incredibly nutrient-demanding chapter: Breastfeeding.

You’ve just grown an entire human, your body has gone through pregnancy and birth, you’re recovering, you’re producing breast milk around the clock and you’re providing your baby with a daily supply of nutrients that have to come from somewhere.

And for some nutrients, the demand is higher during breastfeeding than it was during pregnancy.

𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴.

Iodine: Your baby’s brain and thyroid are developing at an incredible rate, and iodine is needed to make the thyroid hormones that help drive that development.

Choline: Critical during this period of brain development, helping with cell membranes & neurotransmitters. Your needs increase during breastfeeding.

B12: Supports your baby’s rapidly developing nervous system & the production of healthy red blood cells.

Zinc: Supports growth, development & immune function.

Selenium: Vital for thyroid function & protects cells from oxidative stress.

DHA: Incredibly important for your baby’s developing brain & eyes.

And then there’s you. Your body needs adequate nutrition to support your own thyroid function, energy levels, mood, immune system, bones and recovery, too.

Not necessarily.

Nutritional needs change across the entire journey of pregnancy, birth, recovery and breastfeeding.

The right formulation depends on your diet, individual nutrient needs, and some nutrients require particular care to avoid excessive intake.

Take a look inside most lunchboxes and you’ll find an assortment of packaged snacks - muesli bars, flavoured yoghurts, crackers, fruit straps, biscuits and chips.

These ultra-processed foods have become the norm, but we see firsthand how these choices leave kids feeling irritable, unfocused, and far from their best selves. They’re packed with refined sugars, vegetable oils, and additives linked to mood swings, behavioural issues, skin problems, and gut health concerns.

We know life is busy, and mornings are rushed - but what we feed our kids matters. These foods aren’t just filling the gaps; they’re shaping their energy, focus, and well-being.

𝗢𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗴 ~ 𝗜𝗿𝗼𝗻: 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵.

Iron is having its time in the spotlight right now - and for good reason.

Too many of us have been told our tiredness and anxiety are just stress, or reassured that our blood tests are normal, so everything’s fine.

But often, we’re not fine at all.

Iron deficiency doesn’t just drain your energy - it quietly disrupts your mood, hormones, immunity, and long-term health.

You can be sitting comfortably in the “normal” lab range and still be running on empty.
